Tenth Northern California Pipe and Cigar Show
Although still a few months away, we want to get the word out early this year about the upcoming Tenth Northern California Pipe and Cigar Show. It’ll be on Saturday, Novermber 10th in Merced. I want to give everyone an opportunity to “clear their calendars” so they will not miss it. Sponsored by those of us in the Fresno Pipe Club, we had a great time last year and, with a little more lead-time, we’re hoping for great things this year.
More info can more easily be seen at the host club’s web site, including driving directions and a Mapquest link:
http://www.fresnopipeclub.org/Pipe%20Show.html
A report on last year’s show with a link to a photo gallery of last year’s show can be seen at:
http://unitedpipeclubs.org/Report_2006_CA_Show.php
Another report can be seen at the Southwest Pipe & Cigar League site. The link is labeled “NCPS IX Merced” and can be found at:
http://swpcl.org/
Let me know if there is more information needed. I’ll provide periodic updates as the show approaches. Hope to see everyone in November!
Regards,
Jim

Re: Tenth Northern California Pipe and Cigar Show
It's time I posted an update on the show. Only thing is, things seem to be going smoothly, so not much in the way of changes or new info to add. One thing I should mention: The newly formed Merced pipe club, who call themselves "The Sons of the Briar", will now be acting as a co-sponsor along with the Fresno Pipe Club.
We are looking forward to having many of the same vendors back again this year as well as a few new ones. For example, Greg Pease (along with his buddy, carver Joel Shapiro) is slated to be returning (don't know if he'll have a new blend to try).
Last year, Bjarne Nielsen had his own display on the Sunday after the show at Mike Siegel's shop in Merced (formerly known as the Sierra Smoke Shop; now known as Cigar Monkey). This year Bjarne should be here again. However, it will be about a month before we know if he will actually have a table at the show or if he will appear at Cigar Monkey on the day following the show. As soon as I know, I'll post an update. Bjarne is a very congenial and helpful person and anyone getting a chance to meet him will be pleased.
One other thing: Our steering committee decided that it would be great fun to have a slow smoke contest during the show. It will not be officially sanctioned. Just something to do for fun. This means you can use the pipe of your choice (be sure it has sufficient capacity). 3.3 grams of tobacco to be provided to each entrant. I'm sure there will be prizes as well. More details as they become available
Regards,
Jim
