Christmas Cheer (Pick a year, any year.)

Mine just happened to be 2000. I am given to understand from posts on the TobaccoReviews.com site that CC is pretty much CC from year to year to year. True or not, I can't say. This is my first full tin and being about 95% gone I think I have formed an opinion.

This will be the kind of review I like to read, (that is, other than in this line the term cloying will not appear).

I do like CC, but no more than any other McClelland virginia tobacco. A bit more tang than 5100, but I do believe I like 2015 a bit more. It does have the sweetness to it that I like, but to me that is just a given for McClelland's tobacco. I just looked at Cup O Joe's site and they have CC 07 for a not so easy $17 and change. emoticon Granted, that is for the 100g tin, and it is good tobacco, just not that much better than Full Virginia Flake, or Old Gowrie.

CLOYING (Sorry, I couldn't help it.) emoticon

I also enjoy the CC, but IMO it is better aged than green, and it's a blend that I only reach for once a year (during the holidays, go figure emoticon emoticon ) There are too many other blends that are equal to, or better, at a cheaper price for me to even consider making this a daily smoke.

Jim,

I recently finished my tin of 06' and really enjoyed it. To me it was most similar to no. 22 but a bit spicier. I think that 2010 and no. 27 are still my favs, but CC and 2015 are a close second.

I have smoked about half a tin of my 2005 batch and really am rather lukewarm towards this blend. I agree with Jim that it's not any more special than other McClelland VAs. I still prefer FVF in a straight VA. It just seems to have more of a complexity of flavors and is not as bitey as CC.

Well, Timbo and I popped my tin of CC '05 over Christmas. It's a pretty good Va. but not spectacular. I agree that there are better out there for less $$$. It *is* a nice something for a holiday celebration, but certainly not an everyday Virginia.
Tommyboy....I'll be sending you a sample in the next day or so Leave yours sealed....for now... emoticon emoticon emoticon

I had a few bowls of 2001 right before Xmas with a friend who shared. It was good, but nothing spectacular.

I had the one tin from 2000 that I based this review on. I have been buying two tins a year every since without ever trying it. emoticon Wishing now I had poped that tin a few years ago. I won't be buying any more of it. There are a lot of Virginias out there that are way better for half the price. Live and learn.

And no I will not be saying anything to Karen about this.
