Big pipe making! Thought you might like to see this picture of my Dad taken back in the '50's in Firth Brown (Sheffield) Heavy Machine Shop.
Can you imagine the size of pipe you could make on the lathe in the background?
The forgings are crankshaft webs for ships' engines.
The lathe is by no means the biggest in the shop - that had a 120' bed!
