Found a bargin
For those, like me, who must be cost conscious,I found a bargin replacement for regular pipe cleaners. I asked a cashier where the pipe cleaners were and she directed me to the crafts section(?!). There, I found a great, cheap replacement for regular pipe cleaners. They are 12" long and look like a pipe cleaner, but are made for making crafts thingys. The 'fibers are not quite as dense as the 'real' ones, but do the job well enough for me. there's a lot of them in a package and the come in white or colors. I cut them in half; they are about $ 2.25.
I also keep a supply of the abrasive kind of pipe cleaner. Does anyone think that those are harmful to the pipe ?.

Re: Found a bargin
Great purchase! I've frequently looked at them when my wife goes to buy her yarn, but I wondered if these pipecleaners were of similar quality to Dill's. BTW, I like the abrasive cleaners just after a smoke when there is still some level of moisture and enough heat in the pipe to remove excess tars.

Re: Found a bargin
John...I picked up some about a year ago to use in my C/W's. I found that they worked quite well, all things considered. My only worry was that the colored ones would "bleed", but that's not the case....

And if you leave them long they are great for cleaning a churchwarden! Love them.

Re: Found a bargin
Don't know about a price differential, but you can get 1200 pipe cleaners for 10 bucks from smokingpipes.com right now. And if you want 24000 pipe cleaners, you can really start to see the savings.

Re: Found a bargin
I assume by abrasive pipe cleaners you mean the ones that have the stiff nylon bristles in them?
That is pretty much all I use and find them to work better. As the bristles are nylon and thus softer than the wood, I can't imagine them doing any damage to the pipe.
