lighters
I'm going to order a pipe lighter Thursday and need a little info:
I'm currently using an old Zippo that I need to re-retire. I scrapped the Ronson Butanes I was using because the piezo-electric striker mechs kept breaking. Of course these were $1-$3 lighters. If any of you have experience with the higher priced electronics, I need to know if the mechanism is reliable long term. If so, I will go back to electronic butane. I'm going to pay $15-$25 for a lighter.
recommendations?

Re: lighters
I would invest in another Zippo.
Just my .02 cents worth.

Re: lighters
Jack - I think you said in another thread that you had an Old Boy knock-off that was good. Was it the Nibo? They have butane fuel, flint ignition and a slide out tamper...look just like the Old Boy for $25. That or the Zippo pipe lighter is what I'm leaning toward.

Re: lighters
Short of spending the $$ on an Old Boy (which is on my list to get someday), Zippo pipe lighter is the way to go.

Re: lighters
I have two Zippo pipe pipe lighters. Pat bought one as a Christmas gift years ago, and I picked up a "forum lighter" from another forum ...last year?...I think.
We had Steve working on a forum lighter for here, but the dealer/re-seller let us down. Sure would like to see it happen here!
As far as the quality of my pipe lighters, they can't be beat. Gotta hunt up some of that new fluid too.....

Re: lighters
When I'm at home I use wooden kitchen matches more than my Zippo.
You can get a bunch of matches for cheap.

Re: lighters
John, If you send the zippo in they will recondition it too new working order for Zip, zero, nada, no cash.......... Won't cost you a dime more than the shipping. They will even install a pipe insert in a non-pipe zippo free of charge. Just put a note in with the lighter. Look up the zippo address and send it in.
