A follow-up: I have found that this lighter must be held exactly perpendicular or horizontal to light. The problems may also be due to the Ronson flint and fuel.

I have found with Zippo's that using Ronson flints cloggs the flint wheel.

Clean the wheel with a wire burush and peterol and use Zippo flints.

That has been my experience.

I hadn't heard that Peter...thanks for the head's up. As I always use Zippo flints, the problem never arose.

Congrats Gig...I don't leave home without mine. Much better than a Bic-style in preventing rim char and to me, more convenient than stick matches.

I like my Zippo. The only problem I ever run into with it is on the initial light. With most of the coarse cut tobaccos it seem to take half the fuel supply in the Zippo to get the tobacco going.

I've noticed that to. On the initial light it takes a while to light the tobacco but succeeding relights are not a problem. emoticon
