Peterson's 307 Smooth.

Won this one the other week, but due to postal strikes etc only arrived yesterday.

E Bay photo the usual Cell Phone Camera with fingerprints on the lens.

But for less than $25 I decided it was worth a bid.

As I have restored over 100 Peterson's, I thought I best give a few tips.

Also to encourage others to restore pipes, all the following could be done by hand. Use Renaissance wax instead of Carnuba.

Yesterday I reamed the bowl and drilled out the airway, I then put cotton wool balls in the Shank Reservoir/Sump added some 151 Rum and left it overnight.

The stem was not too badly oxidised, I first used 1200 wet/dry dry then wet under running water. That way you can see what needs cleaning off.

Followed by a diluted polishing/cutting compound to restore the smooth finish, then a wax.

The reservoir/sump after removing the cotton wool balls, I scrubbed out.

The bowl I cleaned off with the same polishing/cutting compound and removed the tar build up on the rim. Then metal polish on the nickle band, followed by an overall wax.

I then smoked a bowl of Bob's Chocolate Flake in it, to check it was clean and no unwanted tastes or flavours.

After it had cooled I then recleaned and waxed it, as after heat and moisture it will leech out more gunk I find.

It came up well, I doubt it had been smoked that much.

The Birds Eye on the left is most impressive.

Rim and Bowl, it had never been reamed before.
