I Visited Another B&M Today

I reached Wisconsin this afternoon after picking up a pair of Marine Corps Hum Vs in Michigan. I'd been wanting to visit a 100 year old B&M in Kenosha called Andrea's that another pipe smoker had told me about.

I checked into a motel, dropped my trailer, and bobtailed down to Kenosha to visit the place. It wasn't what I expected at all. It's mostly a gift shop with one corner of the place dedicated to pipes, cigars, and tobaccos.

I mainly went there just to pick up a Zippo pipe lighter as my Xikar butane is almost useless outdoors in a breeze. I did select a Zippo and then spent some time looking at their pipes and tobaccos.

All of the tobaccos were their own blends, and almost all aromatics. I did find a basket with a few odd tins of tobaccos. Among them I found a tin of McClelland Frog Morton and a tin of McClelland Arcadia. I took them both.

Among the pipes I found a couple of very nice Savinellis but my wallet tried to run and hide as I was looking at them so I instead selected a rather nice Comoy's Tradition at about half the price of the Savs.

I really did just go in there for a lighter and nothing else. Really.

Looks like it was a dandy little shopping trip. The pipe shape isn't exactly my cup of tea but you got a couple of great tobaccos there. emoticon

Thanks. That's the great thing about pipes, there's something to please everyone LOL.

It's my first pot and I have to say I rather like it.

Not a *total* let-down amigo. You have a fine Comoys there. I had two pebble grains, but my oldest boy talked me out of them when he took up the pipe. They are still fine smokers.

The two tins were a good find too...not tried Arcadia, but that Frog Morton is a fine tobac.

I have two Zippo pipe lighters....love them! They go where I go...wouldn't be without my Zippos.

All in all, I would say the trip was a success....well done!

Thanks. I am pretty happy with what I found there to be sure, but was a tad disappointed they didn't have any Squadron Leader which I have been having a devil of a time finding in any B&M.

The only thing I dislike about Zippo lighters is their potential for leakage and vapors while in a pocket. I have a scar on my leg from pocketing a freshly filled Zippo about 15 years ago and have avoided them since.

They are very reliable, however, and best for outdoor use. I'll be looking around to find one of those belt holsters for it so I don't have to place it in my pocket.

Mason, if you wear jeans the Zippo will fit nicely in the watch pocket. In most brands of jeans there is not enough room to allow the lighter to turn over. As long as it stays upright it should not leak.

Great score Mason; good for you. It seems like a lot of B&Ms that blend their tobacco "err" on the side of aros. Wonder why that is?

Thanks. Actually that's exactly where I was carrying the one that burned me so badly. It was freshly filled and I think it was just the vapors that did it.

I picked up a very nice brown leather belt holster for it the other day for ten dollars. It keeps it handy without the worry of chemical burns.

Thanks. I think they do so many aromatics because that's what a lot of people want. Not my cup of tea for the most part, but to each his own.

With your job Mason you need a specialist GPS with all the B&M's on!

I like the Comoy.
