AHOY!!
Just got signed on. Been smoking a pipes for close to 30 years. My favorite (daily)baccy is McCellands 5100 red cake. I do favor towards the many Virginia Flake baccys. My favorite pipe is a very old Custom-bilt. I have about 50 pipes in my collection. I enjoy carving pipes. Larry has been most helpful with that hobby. I am a seagoing ship Captain. I live in Foley Alabama with my wife and son. I also ride a Harley and own a female Great Dane. My favorite sport is Nascar. Looking forward to the success of this new board and making new friends here.

Re: AHOY!!
Hey Rusty,
Glad to see you made it. As you know, the 5100 is my out and about daily smoke and is just a very good all around Va and just gets better with age on it.
Do you still have that pipe making cabinet from before? How did that jig I drew up for you to help with the drilling work out?

Re: AHOY!!
Hey Smokingood...Yes to both questions. The drill trick worked good and the jig is doing fine. I'm almost about to invest in a few more toys, namely a drill press and lathe. (That is if Santa don't look to closly at my past years behavior record! :-)

Re: AHOY!!
I think that Mrs. Santa is more concerned about the present than the past. After all, how much better can she have it? You are gone much of the time, have your money sent home, take her on trips when you are home (such as the Nashville trip earlier this year), build additions to the home, etc. But, the main thing is since you are not around all the time, she still likes you.
If you get a lathe, can't you do the drilling there which would eliminate the need for a drill press? Or are you going to get a metal lathe to do stems and drill the stummels with the drill press? Have you decided on a lathe yet? I have read a lot of pipemakers talking about the different ones, sizes, etc., so do some research before buying.
