Re: Getting To Know Each Other
Guess it's also my turn.............
I'm now 45 and just added two grandkids in the last week. Now I'm up to 5.
I've been smoking pipe for going on a year and a half, dabbled in refurbing/rebuilding estated. Made a couple pipes as well. I'm now making tampers and starting to get into making racks as well.
Starting a collection of "North American Carver" pipes which now total 25 now with hopes of more.
I enjoy camping, floating, canoe building and most anything outdoors.
Married to a wonderful lady that treats me lots better than I'm sure I deserve. I have three children of my own, and a total of 5 counting two step sons.
That's pretty much me in a nutshell.
And I don't know how, but the wife tells me she's married to the greatest guy..... (She married Timbo too?) LOL

Well apparently we are either an outstanding group of men, OR...........the wives are trying to spare our feelings.

Re: Getting To Know Each Other
I'm 34, been married for 12 years and have a 11 year old daughter. Still haven't figured out what I'm going to do when I grow up,but at the moment I'm a custodian at a small country school. I think I've been smoking pipes for about 7 or 8 years. Mostly smoke Grabows and cobs, but have a few Petes and Savinellis.
I love everything about this great hobby of ours.

Re: Getting To Know Each Other
Rob, at the moment you are living in my desired future. Retirement for me will require a part time or seasonal job somewhere.
I have been thinking that a job with the local school district as a grounds keeper or some such, would be ideal. Work when the weather is nice, sit as home and feed the woodstove when it's nasty out.

Re: Getting To Know Each Other
How do you capsule bio. a life with three careers, 3 wives, 4 years of college over a 10 year span, dozens of residences and 4 kids with 3 mothers ?...Very briefly.
In my mid teens I started playing drums in 'rock-a-billy' bands. Quit school in junior year to play full time and did some tours including one with Gene Vincent(Be-Bop-A-Lula); couldn't stay employed so joined the Army from 58-62.
Started a 'career' as a tech. in photofinishing(custom labs for pro's); started college on VA bill in '66', left due to divorce in 2 years(3 academic).Became Plant Mgr. of a lab in Houston.
Left in '75' to finish last year of college. Hired as Prod. Mgr. with Fotomat lab in Dallas. Fotomat collapsed in '83', along with all photofinishing(1 hr. labs).Divorce #2
Started my own business pressure cleaning and roof painting. Couldn't compete on price so hired with St. Pete Times as Dist. Circ. Mgr. for 10 years, retired in 2000 due to health.
Had some heart attacks and survived and here I am..finishing with no toys.
John
