Re: Getting To Know Each Other
Good to meet you, hillbillyblacksmith. My wife's grandpa got into blacksmithing when he retired, and has become quite good at it. I like watching him work in his shop when we go back to Illinois.

Re: Getting To Know Each Other
I was born and raised in central Florida, moved to North Crolina when I was 1 God that was a long time ago). I'm 38, married going on 3 years, got a 2 year old ( my pipe helper, see my web site) and one on the way.My wife is a stay at home mom, and I'm full time law enforcement and got into pipe making a year ago. I collect, smoke and make them.
I have taught martial arts for 16 years, play guitar and love to fish. I have been oil painting and air brushing since I was 16, and stumbled into making pipes. Never worked with wood before, so it was alot differant. We live north of Nashville, Tn. but man I miss home ( Florida). My family is on the east coast, her's is on the west coast, so we travel alot, when we can. I love good tobacco, and just changed from aromatics to what I call regular blends. Lol. I have been smoking cigars and pipe's since I was 19. Well that's about it for me. This forum has some of the best folks I have met on any other forum I belong to, or have been on.

Re: Getting To Know Each Other
Well Cowboy, I bet John will swap houses with you!
Sounds like a well-rounded life style you have there. About time you discovered "real" tobacco! <JK> I have a couple of favorite aros, but keep reaching for my Va/Pers and Balkans.
Glad you like our little group. We try.......

Re: Getting To Know Each Other
Ok, a little about myself.
I'm a long haul trucker. I pull step decks and RGNs (people call them lowboys) and haul a lot of military trucks, airfield crash rescue trucks, and assorted large machinery. I do a lot of over sized loads.
My hobbies include pipes (duh), recumbent bicycling, knitting, reading, and the Linux operating system (yeah, I'm a computer geek).
My home is in Florida although I haven't been there since I buried my mother this past December.
I consider myself a gentleman trucker and refuse to dress in the shabby shorts, tee shirts, and flip flops I see far too many of my fellow truckers wearing these days.
Unless I am working an especially dirty load I normally wear decent looking slacks, nice shirt, and tie, along with a respectable hat (not a cap). My customers appreciate it.
While not a prideful person, I admit that I do take some measure of pride in the fact that I comport myself as a gentleman at all times, and have had people notice and comment upon this fact.
I am divorced and have three sons.
I'm not currently in a relationship and haven't been since things ended with my last girlfriend in '04. It keeps my life more simple that way.
Ok, that's all probably more than anyone would care to know about me.
