Broken Pipe

Broken Pipe

It is with deepest sorrow that I come to you today to tell you of the passing of a good friend and mentor to us all. Larry “Smokingood” Bailey has left us. His passing leaves a hole in the pipe smoking community that will never be filled.
Larry finally succumbed to the illness that he has fought for so many years, leaving behind a loving family that not only resides in Georgia, but across the country and around the world. His love of pipes and tobacco, his willingness to mentor others, and his gentle good humor will be missed by all who knew him.
Larry was a man of strength and integrity, setting an example that we can only hope to emulate. His deep knowledge of tobaccos and briar, and his willingness to share unselfishly with all who he touched, made him an outstanding spokesman for this hobby we all love so dearly.
My eyes are brimming, my heart is heavy and my breath pains me. One could not ask for a better friend. The long journey is over…a new one begins.
Rest in peace, dear friend. Rest in peace.

Very well said Ted!! We all will miss in ways that can't be expressed. He will be in out hearts. Brenda and Brittney need our prayers and thoughts now. This bowl is in his memory. Larry you will always be with us.

I raise my glass of bourbon, fill my pipes, and drink and smoke to Larry. I didn't know Larry well, but in the short time I've been here he'd always been quick to respond whenever I needed help or had something to say, and he always made sure to be clear and concise to make sure he'd helped me to the absolute best of his abilities, as he's done, from all I've seen, for everyone else. I can't say as much about most people I know.
Cheers, Larry. Best of luck on the rest of your travels.

I don't have the words to express my feelings towards this good man.

My heartfelt sympathies go to Larry's family.
Go with God my friend.

I'm also without words worthy enough to express my sorrow. I will miss Larry and it sure won't be the same here without him.

Re: Broken Pipe

I too, in the short time that I knew and conversed with Larry found in him a friend, which so many on this and other forums and groups dealing with pipesmoking, found in him also.
He was always quick to lend his hand, an experienced word, or even a bit of encouragment if someone was in need. All to help others fight any small battle they might have, while fighting a war of his own.
Larry might be gone in body but is not truly gone as he lives on in everything that is done by anyone that he has ever touched. Anyone that uses any of the vast experience,or passes on any that was bestowed them by Larry helping him to live on.
Larry as others have said, you will truly be missed, but in the experiences you shared with many others, you live on brother.
One day we will all join you for that victory smoke.
I raise my pipe, take a deep draw and as the wisp of smoke leaves my lips and rises upward, I thank you Larry, this smoke is for you my friend.
I am sure that Brenda and Brittney will have plenty of support, as Larry would have had it no other way, but if there is anything that I can do, I will gladly do it.
