Something new to worry about......
This AM I went to the dentist and had the last four teeth pulled and I was fitted for dentures. I've had lowers but no uppers for almost 7 years, it was time. Everything went well till the last tooth, it shattered into six pieces and he had to really dig them out. Ittook two stiches to close the wound so it would heal. I hope it stops bleeding, it has slowed down a lot and he said that was normal. I have a full set of temporaries till the gum completely heals then he puts in the final set. This gives me time to get use to dentures again. Forthe next week I have a bunch of penicillin to take and you know what that does to the taste buds. My mouth is still num and I can't smoke anything till the numness wears off. I'm not supposed to smoke at all but after 52 year habit guess what LOL It sure feels strange. He said that I should go on a soft diet for a few days, I looked at him and said "no ****", he started laughing. More on the adventures of regor later when I can. I do have the pain medswhich I take all the time anyway for my back.

Re: Something new to worry about......
Thanks!!! It is a very tiny bit better this AM but still sore as can be. It seems he used my upper gum as a lever to pry the lower teeth out and boy is that sore. Numness is almost all gone and the pain meds are working overtime so to speak. I get to take them out and clean and rest them this agternoon and tonight. I'm sure as hell looking forward to that

Re: Something new to worry about......
Thanks again guys!!!! I took the teeth out for the first time just a few moments ago to clean and soak just as I was told too. I does feel a lot better now than it did yesterday and the meds sure help Ithink its going to heel faster than I first thought. Prayers really do help.

Re: Something new to worry about......
Hate to say this Roger but my last extraction he warned me not to smoke till it was fully healed - seems it can encourage a "dry socket". I did and it did!

Re: Something new to worry about......
He warned me also. It has healed alot in 24 hrs. and it does feel better and I a;so know I'm taking a hell of a chance but like I told him a 52 yr. habit can't be turned off thast quick but I would be careful as I can. I sure have cut down a lot thats for darn sure. Thanks for the warning Jimbo, I do appreciate it.
