storms...
Just got a call from Pat. Tornadoes ripped through our area...she's OK...was at her sisters. She can't get to our house with all the trees, limbs and power lines down, so I'm out of here to see what's happened. Cross your fingers.............

Re: storms...
Thanks gang...we got lucky! The storms *just* missed us. Driving home was a fright...trees and power lines all over the place. A used car lot on hwy.17 is...gone! The buildings are scattered across the hillside and a large sand-blasting tank...they're still looking for it. All this within a mile or so of the homestead. Here, just some limbs down. Power was out until about 1/2 hour ago, or I would have checked in sooner.
Steve is the one I am concerned for. Nena talked with Pat..there are only two trailer houses in the Park undamaged...theirs and one other. The rest have got minor to severe damage from trees and high winds. We'll probably go over there tomorrow.
The small town of Pomona, between Mtn. View and West Plains lost 17 homes...that's about half the town. Tommyboy is here...he told me the Red Cross has set up there, and is working to find shelter for the homeless...no word on injuries. I will let y'all know when I know. A few prayers for those caught in harms way would be greatly appreciated about now. Thanks all!

Re: storms...
Thought I'd update you all on the storms that rolled thru here yesterday morning.
After getting off work at 3a.m. this morning, I had decided to stay up and make a trip to the lumber yard for some supplies to hard plumb my air compressor into the shop.
Let me start by saying that we live in a mobile home park.
I sat watching TV and fell asleep! (No Surprise!) The wife called me saying that the tornado siren was signaling where she works, the next town over about 20 miles away. As I was talking to her, I heard the siren signaling here in the town where we live.
Bad Weather doesn't bother me, so I just went out on the porch and checked the weather. It was slightly windy so I didn't pay much attention to the siren and went back in and got back on the net and was surfing of all things, SF.
About an hour later the wind was really starting to pick up and it was raining pretty hard. I kept an eye out after this and the wind continued to pick up and the roof was starting to rattle pretty good on our mobile home and as usual, I still wasn't too worried. (Good thing the wife wasn't home!) Just a few minutes later, the wind was really whipping round outside and the rain was blowing really strangely, I looked toward my truck thinking I might have to give it up and head for shelter, I could barely make out the truck in the driveway. At this point I was seriously thinking about heading to a church in town that opens it's basement during storms. But, I still thought, nahhhhh it's just strong wind and we've had that here before. Well, it wasn't 5 minutes and the whole trailer started shaking and moving and I decided it was time to move. I snatched up our small mini Dashund and headed out into the worst wind and rain I had ever experienced. I got in the truck and headed up the driveway having to drive around a very large tree, almost completely blocking the wide driveway out of the park. (The park where we live is covered by huge old oaks!) The wind was blowing my small truck and it felt like it was close to blowing it around, but I just kept going. as I turned into town there was debris blowing everywhere and as I turned down mainstreet where the church is located, there was a front awning off a business laying in the street and I had to go around it as well as a large dumpster. I made it to the church, only to find that no one had shown up to open it. So I thought, better to keep moving so I turned around and headed back down main street, as I got close to the long awning, a wind picked it up and stood it on end in the middle of the street, which was amazing to see, till I thought what it could do if it dropped on my truck. I sped past it and turned down another street and noticed the local bank had a parking lot full, thinking they might have a basement I turned in, jumped out and grabbed my little dog and headed for the door and they unlocked it and let me in.
I sat in there for about an hour till the wind died down then headed home....... As I made my way home about a mile away, I saw lots of damage and destruction. Trees laying everywhere and a lot into homes. As I got back to our park I saw a lot more damage, several large trees in the park had fallen, many being 60 to 100 years old. I won't go into details as the photos will speak for themselves.
I do want to say, other than a lot of twigs and such, our mobile home and my shop got thru completely unscathed. I can't say everyone was as lucky, as trees had damaged three mobile homes beyond repair. Luckily though, some people had remained, and although scared were not hurt in any way. At least here in the mobile home park that is!
We didn't get it as badly as a lot of people did......... Here are some pictures that I took!
After the storm photos!
