The passing of PeterWD
This was posted at SF today.
quote: Hello, I am writing on behalf of my dad Peter, my name is Max Webster-Dowsing.
I am afraid that my father passed away yesterday morning the 15th July from a suspected heart attack.
It was all very unexpected, he died at home in his sleep. I hope this reaches all the necessary people he was in contact with.
I know he would have wanted me to let you all know, as a big part of his life was coming on this forum and the kind friends he made.
I will leave be around on his forum for the coming days, but the family is in quits some shock still as I am sure you can imagine.
Kind regards
Max Webster-Dowsing
Peter has been a member here for a while now...his humor and deep knowledge of all things Peterson are legendary. I ask you all to raise a bowl tonight, in memory and honor of a dear friend...
Peterson's Irish Flake in the Charatan's Make...both from Peter.
May the Good Lord hold you close in the palm of His Hand, May you rest in peace...until we meet.
May all your loved ones and friends be blessed with the best of memories!

Re: The passing of PeterWD
Logged on to SF about an hour ago and read that post.
I am totally stunned. I had been corresponding with Peter by e-mail up until Tuesday and he had said he had been for tests confirming he was suffering from angina. I'd sent a comfort package of Bracken Flake as being more appropriate to a Brit Codger than a "get well soon card".
I met Peter on here and he then invited me to join SF. We have regularly corresponded and traded baccy and pipes and were planning to meet up later in the year as he was intending to move house on opening a new practice.
If at all possible, I intend to drive down and pay last respects to someone who was a very dear friend.

Re: The passing of PeterWD
I'm still reeling from the shock Jim. Just last week, I received a surprise packet from him.
Peter was the kind of person to go out of his way to show a kindness to those he met, and a helping hand to one in need. My eyes are tear-filled as I write this. If you are able to get down to visit his family, please convey to them my deepest sympathy for this untimely loss.
Gotta go fill the Charatan.....

Re: The passing of PeterWD
I too am utterly shocked. Peter was nice enough to send me a handful of Brown Pigtails when he first joined this forum, and I gave him some St. James Woods in return. I was always so impressed with his vintage/antique pipes.
Jim, if you do go to the wake please be sure to pass on condolences to his family on behalf of us.
Johnny
p.s. I thought this was a really great pic to remember him by (that he posted himself, with a Peterson of course).

Re: The passing of PeterWD
I've just written to Peter's family and also enclosed a card which, with your permission, I've signed as from myself and Peter's many friends on SF and GPSF.
What else can you say? - a good friend and a thoroughly decent man.

Re: The passing of PeterWD
What tragic news!
Jim, thank you for thinking of the card. I thought I knew a bit about the Peterson line until I started reading some of Peter's posts here and there. Next smoke will be a Peterson and some Irish Flake.

Re: The passing of PeterWD
Definately a loss and a blow to this forum to lose such a great and fine member.
My thoughts go out to his family and thanks for the card and passing on our thoughts to the family.
