Thank You Gentlemen...

Nice to belong to this community. Believe it or not, I do not know anyone who smokes a pipe!

There used to be a few tobacco stores/pipe stores in my area, ( within 6 miles or so). Closet one now is 30 miles! Thank goodness for the net!

California ( esp. San Francisco area ) is very anti tobacco. Very sad!

Nice to meet all of you... Would love to smoke a bowl with you someday!

Best..

Bob

I seem to recognize that boat you are in. emoticon

I do see other pipe smokers here from time to time but not near often enough. We have what bills itself as a tobacco shop here. I used to work there part time when it was a real tobacco shop, great job and I highly reccomend it.

The owner had a very well stocked walk in cigar humidor and a number of display cases loaded with some very fine pipes. The tobacco tin selection was more than adequate as well.

I left when he started leaning more toward the sale of knock off swords and glass pipes. he still keeps a great selection of cigars but for the pipe smoker, not much there anymore. The closest genuine tobacco shop to me now is in Portland, about a 45 minute trip. I hate the traffic up there, but will stop in if I am in the area for something already. For the most part a mouse click is much easier and cheaper.

Re: Greetings from California!

Greetings everyone..

Thank You All for the nice welcome! Yes..I try to have as much fun as I can! I am lucky, as I enjoy simple things!

Getting off work, getting home after a 45 min. commute ( smoking my pipe as I drive through the S.F. Area traffic ). Getting home where I can relax with a pipe. Taking my dog out for her walk, reading things of that sort.

Ah, I remember the good old days when I was growing up. No second hand smoke worries. I remember my uncle taking me to a dentist, ashtrays in the waiting room, him smoking his cigar ( he smoked pipes and cigars). Today, at least out here in Calif, he could be arrested for that today ( if you lit up a "joint" it would probably be ok here).

But life is still good today! I do miss the real pipe and tobacco stores that used to be near here. But, things are good as I look over my modest collection.

Great forum! Keep puffin!!!

Best

Bob

Welcome to the GPSF Bob! Glad you're here and look forward to your contributions. I'm a returning pipe smoker myself, after about a 20 year layoff. emoticon
