Re: Again from UK
Glad you found us Jim, and welcome. Is York near London? My son is headed there once his visa issues are approved. Look forward to your contributions.

Re: Again from UK
In English terms of distance, York is a long way from London - about 200 miles! (Next door in US terms)
York is the old Roman and then Viking capital of the north of England and the county town of Yorkshire, England's largest county.
A few years ago, in New York, I was asked if my York was named after NY; I said it was the other way round but the guy said it couldn't be as NY had been there for hundreds of years. I said York had been there for thousands of years to which he replied "You're putting me on; nothings that old!"
Thanks to all of you for the friendly welcome.

That is just amazing to me.
I live in the sticks and the kids and people around these parts are more educated than that.

Re: Again from UK
I was stationed in RAF Lakenheath for about a year. I used to go pub crawling in Bury St Edmunds. I really enjoyed Brittain. My wife and I went to Wales for a job a yr or so ago, but that is a tale for another time. LOL

Re: Again from UK
Bullmoose - thanks for the greeting.
As you see I'm up in the North of England, some way from where you were based, about 25 miles from Menwith Hill (Shhsh - can you say that on the net?).
I live in an old farmhouse (1638)with my (3rd and last) wife, Julie, daughter, Kathryn, and two grandsons. Also 4 dogs, 5 cats and 2 horses (down from 5 a few years ago). Kat was a showjumper, British Northern Masters and British Amateur champion about 10 years ago and also was a huntsman (before the PC police banned foxhunting).
My mother came from Wales so it seems we have a fair bit in common(including Pratchett).
