Hello from Michigan
I have learned more from this forum in the last 60 days about pipe smoking then I ever imagined! Hopefully I will continue to learn. I have recently aquired 3 Savinelli 316's in various finishes, 1 Sav Hercules, 1 Peterson 303 Dry system and 1 Falcon. Pipes on my wish list are a Falcon International, a Kersten, and a Peterson 140th Anniversary....and maybe a Silver Spigot!
I have fond memories of the aroma of Captain Black since I was 12 years old, and way back then I was sure I wanted to indulge in this practice of a "little hand held campfire that smelled so good" when I was of age.
I had several false starts as I do not know anyone who is a pipe smoker, and soon learned that the "little hand held camp fire that smelled so good" could be bitter in taste, and burned the tip of my tongue!
Fast forward 20 years and I discovered this forum...I know now I was smoking WAY to fast and I am currently enjoying Aromatics quite a bit, I am fond of McClelland Aro's and Evening Stroll so far with literaly hundreds more to still try!

Re: Hello from Michigan
Hello from central PA! It is an art, this fine hobby we have picked up. Likely the most wonderful thing about art, is that we all get to perfect it in our own way. I too had several false starts and a bout with the "tubes". My good friend helped me get started. But be wary, just like any other pusher, he only gave me a taste, and said if I wanted more, I'd have to pay for it. Well, her it is, some six years later, and I'm hooked. I now have a nice rotation, and a pretty fair selection of 'baccy. But fortunately for me, instead of losing teeth, and being spun out, I am part of a growing culture of people who have a tendency to slow down and just enjoy life in between puffs. I have met all kinds of folks in this world, but pipe smokers are the best, bar none.

Re: Hello from Michigan
Welcome to Global BCB. Glad to have you here and as said, glad the forum has been some help to you and this fine hobby.
I look forward to hearing your thoughts as your time here continues.
Sounds like you have a nice start to a rotation. But PAD and Tad (Pipe Aquisition Disorder and Tobacco Aquisition Disorder) can be costly monstors... Just ask my wife, I'm sure she will be glad to fill you in.

Re: Hello from Michigan
Many thanks to you ALL for the warm welcome, I am pleased to find such a friendly and Helpfull bunch.
Now reguarding this PAD and TAD, Let me see If I can recall any unusual symtoms....
- Ummm, I have only aquired 5....no 7 new pipes in the last 60 days
- I have only purchased 62 new 1-2oz Baccy samples to try in the last 60 days.
- I have only stayed late after work to modify pipes maybe 3-4 hours.
- I have spent only/less than 30 hrs on the web researching this fine hobbie in the last 60 days.
- I have only been dressing extra warm since the end of March to drive my motorcycle to work to save gas $ to spend on PAD/TAD
- I only dedicate 1 1/2 hrs a day to pipe smoking.
_ I only drove my street legal dirtbike 2 1/2 hrs round trip last night to go to a distant B & M store as my local guy does not stock tinned baccy.
Wew, you guys had me worried, Since I ditched the cranky ex-girlfriend there is no adult supervision in my humble abode so I am relieved that I do not have hardly any TAD/PAD symtoms, without any adult supervision it MIGHT have been serious!
