Deep Into that Darkness Peering.......
Heres the basics for making characters for our Ravenloft campaign. First of I'll be starting you off in Mordent, with one small change. I'm considering their cultural level to be in between 8-9, meaning that its not too odd for people to be walking around town wearing armor and the such, and because of the weather and their closeness to the ocean, gunpowder is in low quantity, so people tend to kill one another the old fashioned way still. But despite that you can still get firearms here.
Everyone will be starting their character at level 6. You can come from anywhere in Ravenloft you want to, I don't want you to be an outlander unless you have a really good reason. Everyone's going to need some kind of back story, and I'm not going to require you to have it for the first game but i do want every one to fill out the 10 minute character background sheet. Being able to start at level 6 leaves a lot of room to do ANYTHING with these characters, and come up with some pretty good background stories, especially if you want an older character.
Heres our ability score rolling table for those that need it, i know its kinda complicated at first but its not too hard to get a hold of:
All scores start at 6, and you start with 69 points, as you put more points into an ability score it ends up costing more points the higher you want your ability scores to go. For Example: It only costs 1 point out of your 69 to put a score up by 1 until that score gets 10, so it costs 4 points out of your 69 to take a score from 6 to 10, but if you wanted to that 10 up to 11 then it costs 2 more points out of your 69 (now 65) to put it up to 11, so to take a score from 6 to 11 it would be 6 points. Below is the cost for increasing ability scores:
7-10 = 1 To put score to 10 = 4 points.
11-12 = 2 To put score to 12 = 8 points.
13-14 = 3 To put score to 14 = 14 points.
15-16 = 4 To put score to 16 = 22 points.
17-18 = 5 To put score to 18 = 32 points.
etc.
As well all racial bonuses are added after all points have been spent.
Any other questions, Ill be glad to answer.
