Bordega

Bordega

THE BEGINNING (Knowledge History DC 16) Approx. 7000 T.E. – Approx. 1000 T.E. As far back as man recorded history recalls Bordega was one of the original seeds of all that is the power and mysticism that surrounds the Era of Titans, those that ruled over the lands. Their settlements and but more so, their temples, littered the unclaimed and raw nature that was the continent of Bordega. Due to Bordega's pure and untouched essence it is believed that the Titans ancient magic flourished here, at this time the endless deserts were believed to more likely be large mountainous regions and highly volcanic, the link to Titan and ancient magics is not clear. During these times the Titans ruled over the area, using the mortal races as their salves and minions, to do whatever bidding they saw fit, but due to their own arrogant and power craved natures they eventually lost their control of the continent, destroying themselves in battle with one another. Little is known of this cataclysmic conflict other than what was left of the mountainous areas was demolished, turned to an seemingly endless expanse of desert. The remaining temples were buried in the sands. Thus marked the beginning of mortal rule on Bordega.

CONFLICT (Knowledge History DC 12) 890 T.E. – 445 T.E. In the years after the Titans downfall and the creation of the desert the mortals, unused to living in such forbidding wastelands fled to the north and the south of the continent, making home in the stable areas away from the desert. Bordegans from the time living with the Titans had givin themselves a sense of wholeness as a race of mortal beings, but their true differences soon became apparent. Those most bothered by these differences left from the others and into their own niches, the elves turned to the rain forests, making loose societies and living with nature. Due to the massive volcanic activity the caves beneath Bordega are vast, so many dwarves and gnomes receded beneath surface. But the dangers of these territories were many and apparent so many of said races remained with the halflings humans and others lived in slight harmony in the north, and some along the coasts to the south. But as the Titans before them the peace wouldn't last forever. Deciding the ownership and the control of such territory soon became a difficulty, as their governments needed to be made from scratch. Equality originally these peoples main concern they created a system where every persons voice counted, and the people decided their leaders. But this system soon grew corrupt with the needs of men overcoming the needs of many and many of these city states and separate countries grew further and further apart. And wars for land, control and power soon, affected all of Bordega. Everyone was at war with everyone.

RESOLUTION (Knowledge History DC 12) 444 T.E. – 290 T.E. As the years wore on the fighting and the wars seemed endless, with peace a rare and almost unknown concept. But during these dark times a charismatic leader from the country of Lyna rose into power. Lady Ihrdah Lyarhna was a miracle for her people and her time, looking back to her ancestors and their ideals of equality and true peace, she wished to return her people, and all people to that age and ideal. Through alliance and a silver tongue, the numerous warring nations eventually forged themselves into two separate entities, The Idealists, and the Traditionalists. Both dedicated to the same idea but also different. The Idealists believed in a countries cities that still remained to run themselves with their people voting on measure that only affected their city, but all of these countries and citys would be considered a whole, protected by one large military in case of invasion from any other continent or large force from any other entity, the cities would choose their by vote, changing leaders regularly, and all of these cities leaders would make up a senate that passes measures that effect the whole of the countries. The Traditionalists led by Lady Lyarhna believed in a system with no elected officals, just the votes of the people, that would be carried out by the government. Alas the two factions could not settle their differences and ended resolving their problems in war, with the idealistic Lady Lyarhna falling in battle, her charismatic presence lost eventually ended the war, but her most faithful followers still hopeful for their Traditional government left the north into the deserts.

THE STATUS QUO (Knowledge History DC 10) 281 T.E. - 276 A.T. (Present) Along with the help of a powerful cleric of the water goddess, the Traditionalists escaped into the deserts, creating their own society, alongside the ever changing deserts, and the countless ruins covering the deserts. The people created their society, but saddly the Ladys true wishes were never seen as the greed of men took them over. Their society could only be run with the power and the money of the old noble houses, thus their government was based on this power structure, mostly around the Lyarhnas who rule over most of the land to this day. The people still vote on issues at hand but the goverment in the hands of the familys is corrupt and unchecked, equality is a loose term in the deserts.
