Re: DnD 4.0
to me it's not just a "different take on magic" to me, Psionics is a "different take on magic"
To me it's Magic+awesome meleeing abillities. I mean, a wizard gets d12s, or a warmage gets d6s...that's still 1/2 the HD of a Warblade, and last I checked you don't exactly need a stat for using these maneuvers.
What is it that the "Key skill" for these maneuvers do exactly?

Re: DnD 4.0
I haven't played a warblade (they seemed like the really broken class to me) but I believe that INT was a main ability for swordsages. I don't know about warblades but the swordsage was only semi good in combat using no maneuvers. ToB was really just an attempt to make fighter types a more interesting/mystical warrior type of character. I hope do add some of this flavor to fighter in 4.0 and it sounds like it may be in how you choose your weapon.

Re: DnD 4.0
In my opinion all tomb of battle was was a way to make DnD like anime, which annoys me and unbalances everything, just as anime is if you were to consider it in DnD terms.

Re: DnD 4.0
*****WARNING POWER GAMER ALERT*******
All Lies! -stanch supporter of ToB-
Warblades had class abilities that gave bonuses based off your int. Swordsages got Wis to AC in when wearing Light or no armor, and some desert wind/Shadow somting maneuvers used Wis for their DCs. Stone dragon and Iron Heart maneuvers used Str for DCs, if any. The Key Skill thing was just what the school of maneuvers focused on, only Diamond Mind maneuvers actually used the skill, maybe some of the Devoted Spirit ones intimidate and such.
*sigh* ok im done...not overpowered *runs off quickly and dives behind his Dwarven Defender*

Re: DnD 4.0
A simpler question would be how is ToB not powergaming?

Re: DnD 4.0
wait, whats the difference between powergaming and optimizing? because playing one class is about as powergaming as any spellcaster or even a freaking fighter. you know what? next time i see you kevin, this weekend, you are going to get my ToB and you are going to make a character using that book. i dont know if it will change your mind or reinforce your opinion but thats not the point, you need to experience it before you can really judge it. Same goes with you ryan, i get your objection to the anime-sytle of it but it doesn't have to be like that. it not like what cody did, screaming out every technique as he used them. it a remembered set of movements used to attain a certain goal. i dont know if im ever going to convince you people. but hey if you dislike ToB i guess your going to hate 4.0 fighters as well...
