You could always make a frenzied bezerker! Nothing like attacking your own party members when you roll bad, its like kicking people in the head then asking them to be your friend!

Re: DnD Characters

Ok... in making this third character... I need to know a few things... like what level he's actually going to be so I can determine magic items and other things...

I didn't post a bio or stats for the second character I made (Solean...), and I'm not sure if I should do so due to his incredibly short time with the group (killed second game he was in). Before that game he died his total XP was 30444. If he gained 6000 XP... then the new guy's lvl 8 then...

can anyone help me out on this one?

Edit

You know... forget it I'll just write him up as a 7th level ranger. From the looks of what I had I probably wouldn't have begun this guy at 8th.

Introducing:

Name: Dirk Ashwood
Class: Ranger
Size: 6’8”, Medium
Weight: 210 lbs.
Age: 29
Gender: M
Race: Human (Vandegan)
Alignment: Chaotic Good
Diety: Pelor
Eye Color: Blue
Hair: between brown and black (essentially dark brown)
Skin Tone: light

Stats (As of Level 7)

STR: 16
DEX: 14
CON: 12
INT: 14
WIS: 12
CHA: 11

Background:

Dirk Ashwood is technically related to Solean Ashwood by law. The story of the Ashwood guild is as follows:

There was a family of elves by the house name of Dewwood, and a family of humans by the name of Ashfall. Both families were competitors in the weapons and weapons-smith trades: most noticeably within Kandala and the Crystal Kingdom of Vandega. However, there were incidents within Kandala that caused the families to almost take a rampaging blood feud with one another, such as weapon shipments suddenly vanishing, weapons falling to pieces upon arrival, and even some that have been cursed. The two families began accusing each other for the increasingly bad business, and it almost escalated into full blown fighting.

By what many elves would call a hideous twist of fate however, the two families found that two of their kin had eloped. The human “husband” and the elven “bride” were well respected members of the families and did this as a means to rectify those past incidents. Because of this the two families had decided to take a more peaceful means of sorting out the incidents.

At least that’s what the two elopers had said up-front.

It was later discovered that they had been indeed lovers and the wife had borne a half-elf child. This caused uproar with several slave traders within the Crystal Kingdom and it was ultimately demanded that the child was handed over immediately.

The parents did not want to part with their child no matter what he was, and fled. They were hunted down and incidentally slaughtered by a collaborative effort of the slave traders and soldiers from the Crystal Kingdom.

As a result of this incident: the two families suffered in business in the Crystal Kingdom, and ended up joining their failing businesses to help themselves through hard times. Thus they became the Ashwood weapon-smiths guild. Both sides of the family mourn the loss of their kin and developed both a respect for each other, but also a deepening bitterness to the Crystal Kingdom and slave-trade alike. The guild is now currently housed somewhere in Kandala.

In the Case of Dirk Ashwood:

Dirk, like many of the Ashwood guild, has spent his life wandering the world in order to find a new source of profit for the family, or otherwise try and “make the world a better place.”

One day, Dirk was visiting the gravesite of the family members slain by the slave traders, and noticed that several grave markers were defiled. Earlier that day he had heard rumors of unearthly moans and wails coming from the graveyard at sunset. It was sunset at that moment. Just as he was about to come up to the family graves, he saw two red-robed men and a demon near the graves of his relatives. Enraged, he charged the demon and its associates and slew them. Then he found their intent: they were trying to channel the souls of his family back from the dead and use them for their own ends.

That incident gave him a calling in life that could almost easily rectify both of those goals for the family: demon-hunting.

He has a rekindled appreciation and faith for the god Pelor. He has also, from time to time, worked with the church of Pelor in several tasks of exorcism and fiend-slaying. He keeps relatively well in touch with the rest of the family because of this new-found prospect.

Upon hearing about the death of a fellow family member: Solean Ashwood. He decides to rush to the places he was last seen to investigate the matter of the death.

Re: DnD Characters

So assuming we don't get Dirk turned back (which is looking rather likely), what were you planning on for you backup? I think you were talking about making a caster/effigy master, but I think that might be a little complicated for the amount of time we'll be playing the campaign (only a couple more sessions).

We already have 3 clerics and ihave most of the arcane stuff covered, but we have a lack of straight up melee. Cat and Micah are kinda combat focused but I think for the amount of time we'll be playing, a simple full melee cahracter would be the best addition. Just a thought.

Re: DnD Characters

Forgive spelling errors and other discrepancies. Though the author has attempted to make this entry as accurate as possible, some issues may arise from the fact that she does not indeed have the full history and spelling of the events and places defined herein.

Illithia Ivakerym (Lightblade)
Class: Wizard 5/Blood Magus 4
Race: High Elf
Alignment: Lawful Neutral
Deity: St. Cuthbert
Age: 163
Height/Weight: 5'4"/110
Eye color Green
Hair Color Dark Auburn

Ability Scores:
STR: 10
DEX: 14
CON: 14
INT: 18 (22 w/ gear)
WIS: 10
CHA: 12

Skills: Knowledges, Heal, Concentration, Spellcraft

Feats: Toughness, Great Fortitude, Craft Wondrous Item, Scribe Scroll, Collegiate Wizard, Improved Toughness, Vatic Gaze

Languages: Elven, Vendegan

Familiar: A black scruffy raven named Nodel

Bloodlines and the Arcane Arts

Illithia was born to the Lightblade family in Napolte. The family, though once a proud and large family with some influence in the community, has fallen upon unusually bad luck in the last century or so, leaving only Illithia, her parents, and her younger brother as the surviving members. (1) She and her younger brother Serener both had a strong interest in the arcane arts and attended the school at Napolte (2), where Illithia studied under the tutor (name needed), a cranky old elf who often elaborated on the morality of learning magic and what it ought to be used and not used for.

Serener disapeared three year before his graduation.(3) It had been rumored that he was on rocky ground with the school administration and merely sought tutoring elsewhere, but Illithia was concerned about the safety of her younger brother and set out to find him. Using funds her family was glad to provide her in order to save yet another missing member of the family, she sought off on his trail using what clues she had from a journal and some notes he had left behind.

Illithia teleported to a major city and from there, set about locating herself a bodyguard who could protect her while traveling from town to town. She found in her search Sho Rukan, who was lost and unable to speak the language, but whom she was able to discern was also missing someone close to him. (5) She and Sho Rukan spent several months traveling together and searching for hints on the missing persons, Sho able to act as warrior and she as translator.

Illitha was finally able to track down the supposed location of her brother to the outskirts of a small town, where it turned out he had found a new mentor who specialized in the summoning and binding of extraplanar creatures. The found there, here brother in the summoner's library, and with her brother a strange and terrible demon. Her brother set it loose hoping it would kill the intruders, but once loose it quite happily both killed him as well as Illithia; Sho survived and was able to destroy the fiend.

Illithia was revived by the nearby temple of Corellon and vowed revenge on the summoner and all who would bring demons to the moral world; but she also had an obligation to fulfill for Sho Ruken, who still sought his Lord. She traveled with him and another individual named Steward for a year and a half, searching for clues to demons and their summoners, and the clues led her to believe she could do research on the lord's kidnappers most easily in Sigil, for it seems they had allies there- but in her search for information she found unrest at the Temple of Pelor...

(1) The brothers of Anarion Lightblade fell to suspicious magical backlashes or simply dissapeared. The Lightblade family privately blames the Silverin family for sabotaging their line, but has no proof. The Silverin family was, some five hundred years ago, deeply involved in magical research the Lightblades found morally objectionable, but were never able to collect enough evidence to properly convict the members of the rival family. At that time, the Lightblades' reputation was harmed by their 'paranoid delusions' on the rival family.

(2) The author regrets to inform her readers that she was unable to locate the name of the school in her research to write this history; perhaps others would be willing to provide it for her?

(3) Since elves spend a very long time training, it can be presumed that three years is reasonably close to graduation.

(4) Spelling is uncertain and likely incorrect.

(5) Using a comprehend languages spell, Illithia was able to understand Sho Rukan's dilemma.

Following in a Brother's Footsteps

Stewart Ashwood, is Dirk Ashwood's biological brother in the family. They have been somewhat rivals, however in spite of sibling differences he thought no less of Dirk.

The Ashwood Family began a new line of research since Dirk first set out on his demon hunting journey. In tighter association with the elven half than ever, the family made a small series of specialized weapons made to combat all evil threats. Stewart was one of the members of the family still available to enact on this project. Even still, several family members are going deeper into researching the demonic in order to create the ultimate counter measure.

Upon receiving his new Falchion. Stewart decided to begin a journey helping those who are in trouble with demons. Or really just to try his new sword out on something evil and nasty.

He met Illithia some time afterwards upon his travels, and her traveling companion, Sho. He heard about a demon being summoned in some conjurer's library. He rushed to the scene and attempted to aid them as they fought the demon. However, much to his dismay, he couldn't save them in time. He planned to fall back and attempt to block the demon's path as it came out.

Much to his surprise, he never had to. He saw the Jak fighter destroy the demon by simply unsheathing his sword out of its scabbard. He made a personal vow to aid these two travelers in a crusade against any kind of evil force, most notably devils.

Their travels took them to the extraplanar city of Sigil. Once there, they followed some rumors of unrest at the Peloran church...
