Lorains Amazing Political Experience

In the midst of fall, the snow falls gently of the kingdom of Avertice, more well known as the Crystal Kingdom, by those, well shall we ssay less studied. In the center plaza, and teleportation center of the city appeared the alongside a wizard out crew of most interest, at this point unnamed. The good wizard for hire, loaded with prepared teleports is off leaving the party to their busniess. and back to his own.

As is the duty of members of the Avertice Guard, even those of barabaric origins and special standing, one must debrief their heads on certain mission accomplishments. This being one of the few things Lorain remembering from her half a days training in the Crystal Guard, off she went to report.

Though to Lorains untter suprisal, she finds a scene inside the chambers where she was to report. But not without faces unrecognizeable, The fist being Crystal Knight Borgin George, uneepected, secod the man whom hired Lorain first off, anothier man she did not recognize, and finally the Upstart Captain from the outterfarm guard, whom had bested Lorain once before in combat.

The arguments increased as Lorain entered the room, with near attack from the Upstart captain (whom luckily was unarmed). Once everyone was brought to a suitable arguing level, Lorain was semi-informed of the situation.

It appeared that the upstart was trying to join Borgins troops and take Lorains place, insisting that she had bested Lorain in one on one combat. Lorains reaction withstanding. Borgin insisted that there would be no such replacement, and that their claims did not matter Lorain was essential.

This infuriated them. They told Borgin that if need be they would take him to the courts for violating his duty as a captain, and not replacing the member for the obvious better. They also proclaimed that if they must they would have him punished for using his position in an unfair manner. (Hence weakening his guard and possibally the sake of the kingdom itself, for his own political motivations.) Borgin was outraged and dared them to do it, ordering them to leave.

The man Lorain did not recognize and whose name she did not manage (or care) to catch appeared to be Borgins advisor, and assured her that this will go to the courts and could turn ugly. Not only could Lorain end up punished, so could Borgin, and most noteworhty his reputation.

Lorain was finally given the change to debrief and recite her tales of glorious battle to the Knight, taking the tension from the room for as long as possible, thereafter dismissed, but not allowed to leave the crystal palce under any circumstances.

So there she was, left with nothing but a bitter political bout of boredom and no place to try out her brand new shield. The pre-trial weeks were filled with nothing but boredom, disappointemnt, and a little confusion. Borgin wished for her to wear the cloak and vestments he had purchased for her at coronation, but his advisor had them taken, as it would "wouldn't help the reptation in the least." In other words no expensive clothes. Secondly, she caught onto the gossips of the toen speacking about possible love affairs and the such going on. Of course none of this was, but it didn't stop the people from giving her funny looks around town.

Upon the days over which the trial was commenced, there was much bashing and little talking on Lorains part (mostly due the the well prepared Silence spell cast on her.) She sat in her itchy, uncomfortable cuty clothes and watched as the parties adressed their cases to the judge, chosen from the high ranks of the Pelorian church.

The talking went for days and the little that Lorain did way attention through the pseudo-tourture that was the courts, she heard the basings of Borgin and his morality as a Crystal Knight himself, though one day it got a little exciting as he was defended by the king, in person. As well as the truthfullness behind Lorain and the Upstarts match, which to Lorain, sounded exaggorated. Though the upstarts side had winesses, Lorains were off doing more importants, much more FUN things.

The concluson of the trial came down to this: Borgin's positioning of Lorain was just at the time, but his refusal to remove her is valid, but the one on one battle cannot be founded. Thus, on the first day of spring, there will be a formal match between the two, in Avertiece itself. The winner of that match will be declared the position.

In the end, a months time gave Lorain what she wanted in the first place, a fair fight. But the only real winners were the town folk that got a good deal of gossip. Antoher week passes before Lorain finally recieves word from her companions, who are completely away from where they planned. Borgin wishes her well and tells her to prepare for the times ahead, a clear kind and true sword will lead her to victory, and to a clean slate.

Thus we all ponder why this Dm write up is titled Lorain's amazing Political Experience, when there is nothing of amazement and no experience to be gained....
