MASSIVE MOVIE SPOILER WARNING AHEAD.
It seems like it's going to be a...
Large Blue explosion, as shown in the trailer, however recently I have heard that the squid may be back. Or at least in as an "alternate ending"

From what I've heard it will likely just be a nuklear bomb or something of the sort. Hopefully the alien will be in at least an alternate ending. Still looks awesome though.

it WAS awesome. I thought the ending worked better for the movie than the actual story would have. that's just my opinion though and that grants me immunity from being wrong.
