Favourite Character? When I was a kid my favourite was Zia. Now I'm not so sure, I probably liked her because she was the only girl in it, lol. Mendoza's a good character too. So, whos your favourite character? Vote!
Re: Favourite Character? Zia was my favorite too, but I think it was for the same only girl reason. Although I also thought she was really nicely designed - very pretty without being too Barbie-ish, which seemed to be the trend in female characters during that time period.

Re: Favourite Character? The children. It's a multicolored group without a great deal of focus placed on it, and all the characters have some degree of innocence while still being strong willed and grown up to a certain degree -- a good method for child protagonists imho, one that would best be followed more. The interactions between the characters are priceless: Esteban's altruism, Zia's mystique, and Tao's smart-yet-vicious nature mixed quite nicely, or so I thought.
Re: Favourite Character? Zia & Mendoza have always been a favorite of mine.
Though, now.. the lot of them I enjoy, even the bad guys. Marinche is my fav baddie along with Pizzaro.

Re: Favourite Character? In response to your comments, Tao snubbed Esteban as he didn't trust white people, and he fled with Zia when his suspicions were confirmed.
Let me explain. OK, when they first met, they, or especially Esteban and Tao didn't get on well, probably as Tao knew Zia was Inca and Esteban was (the hated) European, or white man.
Remember, Tao flashed about Mendoza's pistol without knowing what it was, and almost shot Esteban. Tao was terrified afterwards and fled with Zia, thinking the white men were here to kill them or worse.
Tao is justified when in the next scene you see Mendoza regaining his pistol which Tao dropped, and takes aim at Tao - Esteban stops him in time, having realised what happened.
But in the end of the scenes on Tao's island, Mendoza, Sancho, Pedro and Esteban save Tao from almost certain death.
After a shaky start, the trio of kids have worked together (using Tao's knowledge and inventiveness) saved each other's lives several times over.
That's why I'm sympathetic to him most. He's probably the most intriguing of the trio, as well as being the last of his kind.
