Re: Favourite Character? He did, but for the same reason as before: rescue. BTW, I forgot about the first time when he was wearing the god costume.
The first time, he takes his boat to the island (possibly for supplies) and at the same time Mendoza's lot are there.
Now, when they are asleep, what does Tao see? Three European (white) men, a white boy and an Inca girl. Considering the stories circulating about the Europeans, Tao must've thought that Zia was a captive of the others, and he "rescued" her from them.
Tao must've known about the Incas, as I've no doubt his father took him on trips to the mainland when he was younger. Just a thought.
OK, fans of Esteban may not like Tao for that, but I think you can understand his motives.
Re: Favourite Character? Fully. It should of course be noted that, even after the three got along, Tao was still lording it over Esteban (usually by mocking his vertigo, nearly pitching him off the edge of a cliff at one point). Still, I doubt it was more than his being half enfant sauvage, and not distrust of Esteban.
I'm somewhat ambivalent about Tao, but the group just wouldn't be the same without him. (Though it's about time for Esteban to be kidnap fodder...)
Re: Favourite Character? Mendoza has always been my favourite character.
When I was a kid he was cool because he had a sword and cloak.
Now when I watcht he series (I only got hold of it recently) I love the whole multi-faced character they have given him - is he good, is he bad, yes he is after the gold, but he does still care, he is out for himself when it suits him - he is mysterious and at times quite mercenary and even down right evil (when trying to plunder the lake).
Re: Favourite Character? My favorite character is Mendosa. If he wasn't there, the group was lost.He is the leader of the group, and he always rescued them when they were in danger. He is fearless, the best guy of the cartoon.
Re: Favourite Character? Im sorry I had to go for Esteban. I always like the way he tackles everything head on and doesn't often think things properly through but relies on his instincts to keep him out of trouble. Something I do myself far too often. Then if your instincts are good you may as well relie on them. Only problem is knowing when you are pushing your luck a little too far. I have since found out I went places in Kenya some average Kenyans fear to go because they have such bad reputations. One of these places I even walked to at night (accompnied at least) along the edge of one of the slums. It was only later did he make comments. He had wanted to go back to the centre to get a vehicle and I had said we could walk it no trouble. Mind you he did decide anyone would be mad to take me on because I appear too confident. He recons they would have expected me to have a gun at the least. I dread to think what would have happened if they realised I am not even any good at fighting. As Esteban says though "You can overcome any challange as long as you believe you can master it". Belief in ones self and your own abilities does go an awfully long way.
After watching the first 5 episodes last night there's some wonderful little personality traits that probably i never really noticed as a kid. Like Fom episode 1 - when he was being chased by the town and scrambled up the wall and got dizzy (Similarily later when hoisted up in the the sky in the town ad told to make the sun come out), something i can personally relate too!
And in episode 1 the extremly funnt getting seasick, here was this serious scene on the deck of the ship and Esteban was on all fours with his hand over his mouth about to be sick! The fact he was roaming around about to vomit whist such seriousness was around him was a riot. Also in that episode when he's climbing to the from of the ship on the pole and after a minute realises Zia is still watching so he and shows off - whilstling like it was no big deal. Brilliant.
Re: Favourite Character? What i love about Esteban above is his innocence and being "pure of heart" in my opinion. Of course he can be stubborn and prehaps a bit niaeve (always going along with Mendoza - i saw Zia's point more than a few times), but his love for his friends and his friendships with the others makes him such an endearing character.
I also like like Tao alot, his and Estebans arguments never ceased to amuse me. And, having now seen all MCoG episodes again i can safely say - i love kokapetal! I've really been highly entertained by this little bird throughout the series! "Rawrk! Danger, danger, run for the hills!"
Re: Favourite Character? Definately Mendoza, hes jut such a convincing character. Hes not perfect, but his hearts in the right place.
Gomez, next, see the villians thread for my fangirl ramblings
Tao, i love the fact hes so dedicated and headstrong, and proud. I like the fact he has a very strong sense of wrong and right, despite growing up 99% alone. Plus his hair rocks.
--- He began to dance and his laughter became a bloodthirsty snarling.
Re: Favourite Character? I also think Tao is the most interesting of the trio too. Don't get me wrong, I love Esteban and Zia too, but Tao is just more complicated. I always like that in a character.
