Classic movies that anyone adores?
I just bought "The Great Escape" on DVD, it's got to be as good as the cities of gold.
The scene of 4th-July was one of many great scenes.
I remember reading the book by Paul Brickhill at primary school. So enthralling.
It's a shame that Steve McQueen died, he's made more fans after death...

Re: Classic movies that anyone adores?
Aguirre: The Wrath of God is an excellent old movie by the great director Werner Herzog. Like MCO, it tells about a quest to find the legendary Cities, but in this case follows a scouting party -- soon to be lead by the cunning Aguirre -- that detaches from the declining Pizzaro's expedition and heads down the Amazon, soon having to deal with the slow drifting insanity that comes from living conditions on their raft. As with a lot of Herzog movies, the deranged main character is played brilliantly by Klaus Kinski.
Another good old movie is Stalker. That one may seem a little long to people used to the blisteringly fast cinematography commonly used in Hollywood, but if you manage to slow yourself way down you may enjoy the mysterious, lyrical procession that director Andrei Tarkovsky put in his films (on the other hand, it could be a matter of taste). This one has a surprising amount of depth, and looks like it was made on a small budget without sacrificing story.
Well, that's two. A good start.

Its gotta be Apocalypse Now. Such an epic film. There are so many great scenes in it (the brilliant Robert Duval as sgt Killgore "if I say its safe to surf, its safe to surf!"), and its also quite a disturbing film, it captured the insanity of the Vietnam war perfectly.
and yes to great escape, top film

The Clint Eastwood dollars trillogy. Sergio Leonne is such a great director, Clint Eastwood is... well is Clint Eastwood and then Ennio Morricone's music is amazing.
Oh and also like the Indiana Jones trilogy for pure fun

I'm a huge fan of "The Love Bug" - a wondeful mixture of animation and real life!
Herbie enjoyed a revival in the past couple of years!
Would be a good subject for a new poll:-
Herbie -v- Esteban, which is the cuter of those two??
