Map making

I'm new to this whole RPG maker program, I was going to write the code straight out in Visual Basic and Direct X. But this program is pretty cool, but I need to know how to put items on the map and not have the white around the item overlap the floor tile. This is a hard question to convey, but please give me your input (anybody).

If you are talking about imported tilesets, you have to set the transparency when you import them by left clicking the background color. To set another color as translucent..such as shadows, right click the shadow color.

When you are making your in game map, be sure to use the different layers. Generally the bottom layer is for terrain objects, however tiles which are part transparent, like the small hill autotiles need to be placed on an upper layer. You have three graphic layers, and one layer, the top, for actions.

You can also use the 4th layer (Event layer) to add more detail toy our maps, but doing this will create a lot of lag on your game.

Ok I did that, when I tested my course I put a house on the 2nd layer, yet I was able to walk on it... something I need to do for that? The house had come from this sight.
