The Lord of the Rings
When the RPGMaker 2k was the best thing around, I started a project to make a game based on The Hobbit. After a month or so of work, I decided that I wasn't skilled enough to make a game based on the Hobbit yet. So I scrapped the project and started working on a series of mini projects where I created a great ABS which I didn't release that included boomerrangs, bows, bombs, and swords. It worked almost just like LttP. When I decided that I wanted to start again the RPGMaker 2k3 was released. Of course I got it, but instead of making a game based on The Hobbit, I decided to make a game based on The Lord of the Rings. After a few months of hard work; the game was really coming along. Then my computer caught fire... after many tears, I got a new computer and forgot about the project until the RPG Maker XP was released. I decided to start again, this time with a zipdisk, and so here I am.
The game will feature all three books. This isn't really based on the movies because while the movies where fantastic, they still left a lot out.
These screen shots are kinda old because I don't want to show too much yet. Thanks to ZanyZora for some great resources including the Hobbit Hole door seen in the screen shot below.
The title screen made with a map of middle earth and photoshop.
At BagEnd
The game features a somewhat Oblivion style of interacting with NPCs. It doesn't have speech craft, but you will always be able to choose from a series of things to say. Everything from just "Hullo" to "What news of the outside world?" to more quest based questions. The screenshot shown above is just something I slapped together real quick with an event just for the screenshot. The real thing will be quite different.
The game will have a mix of midi and mp3 music formats.
I will release more info, screen, and demos in the upcoming weeks.
If anyone wishes to help with the project, let me know. I could use spriters, scripters, and tileset makers. While I can do the sprites and a lot of the tilesets myself, I could really use the help to save time and effort.

Re: The Lord of the Rings
Sounds interesting, will be expecting a demo ^^
If you ever need any battler recolouring, send me a mail and I'll try my best.
I'm not so good in charsets but I'm rather good in recolouring battlers.
Check some of my resources in this forum ^^

Looks potentially fun. Hoped it can be based on the book, the movie and the game...
