Thanks Graham - having done the training last year and not run it, I'd better this year! Who else is mad enough to join us?

I've picked up a marathon entry form from Graham and I understand my secretary has booked my accommodation, too.

Having never run a marathon before, I thought I might consider this one. Is this a good one for a first-timer? Will there be a bunch of people training for it?

The course is not as flat as we were led to believe. However, there were 8 first timers from the club last year and we all finished - a number of us are going to have another go this year so it cannot be that bad!
So far as training as a group, there are already 7 or 8 members showing an interest and I am hopeful that we can combine our trainig with the Amsterdam matathon group.
You can look forward to your Summer being structured around interval training on Wednesdays and long runs on a Sunday.
Go on - get that entry form in the post

Will look forward to that Graham-not!!!! Yeah, the course was definately tougher than I had been led to believe by Martin (!). Personally I went off a bit fast and so consequently burnt out early on. Nice scenery though and cheerful marshalls. Am going back this year!

There is also the option of the 'half' as well.

In the 1930's, in south Wales, my family joined the picket line for the miner's strike. Other family members, however, broke the picket and continued to work. They've still not been forgiven.

But that's nothing compared to the grudge you guys hold for me telling you this run was flat ("as a pancake," I think I said).

I'm entering the full marathon this year though. emoticon

argggghhh... I can't decide if I'm doing this or not....no maybe it's that I know I'm going to end up doing it but to enter seems such a final decision. I said I would never do another marathon..but 5 now that's a nice round number so ...and it was sunny (although also windy and hilly to be fair) aiming for under 3:45 ?? maybe I should.. .you're definatley tempting me although I may have to train a training programme that means I'm fit enough to start the actual training as I'm struggling at the moment

Cathy,

I am assuming we will follow the same 16 week training schedule as last year so we will need to start second week in June.
