Re: George Hudson
I was very sorry to hear that George had passed, he was a great inspiration to me when I started running and was always friendly. A top bloke and true gentleman.

Re: George Hudson
When I think of George I always see him laughing. :-) I'll picture him like this whenever I feel sad today.

Re: George Hudson
I shall remember George as a genuinely lovely man, always happy and full of enthusiasm and encouragement. I shall miss his smile and especially the car park banter on a Wednesday evening
After yesterday's lovely service, The BBC marathon tune will always be synonymous with George
Sincere condolences and very best wishes to all of George's family x

Re: George Hudson
Just had the news on the newsletter - quite genuinely shocked and not sure if I can write anything good enough to do him justice.
When I first started with the club I can remember talking with him about what makes a good runner (he was a fast marathon runner in his day and beat the rest of us even into his 70s). I said it was long legs, pointing his out, but he replied, "It's not the legs, but the engine!". Typical George really and great, motivating advice. You'd only have to look at Rich's legs to see that applies(!)
I'll really miss someone to look upto in quite the way I did with George, as I'm sure we all will. If I'm half as good as him by his age then it will frankly be a miracle.
Keep running on Steve and see you soon.
John

Re: George Hudson
Very kind words John, but for the record, George was under 70!! Not sure he'd appreciate being put as older!!! Nice write up in last weeks Gazette too.
As for half as good as him by his age - I'm not half as good as him 40 years his junior!

Re: George Hudson
Hi all, I have received a thank you card from George's family:
To Claire and members of Running Forever
Maureen, Steve and Rob would like to thank everyone for their support and messages of sympathy and generous donations given in memory of George. Also attending his funeral and doing a guard of honour at the crematorium. He would have been such a proud man. . A total of £3000 has been given to the MLGS (Musgrove Leukaemia Group Somerset). This wonderful donation will enable MLGS to continue supporting Leukaemia patients in Somerset.
Our heartfelt thanks, Maureen, Steve and Rob.
I have passed on our thanks via Steve to his mum. I know George is still greatly missed within the club and I think of him often, especially when at races. Thank you all RFRC members who came out that day, Maureen is right, he'd have been proud.
