SUNDAY 6TH JANUARY
A bit of a late call I know but a few of my pals from work are doing the Tough Guy at the end of the month and this weekend's training run for it is a 13+ miler on the Quantocks, leaving Lydeard Hill Car Park at 9.30. In theory, the Obelisk next week should be easy after this one (trust me, I've set this weekend's course!)

Boy, was that some run (ok, run/walk in my case). Was it tough??? Well, not even Simon Lewis, the 'toughest' of the tough guys, could manage to run all of it! A half marathon with 3247ft of climbing and terrain varying from road to rocky escarpement. Some mud, water, really nice forest trail through Great Wood and just about every other surface you could wish for if you're a multi-terrain enthusiast! The views were pretty special too!
I'll put a separate post but we are going to do it all over again in 2 weeks time (20th) but the other way around. It will still have a very steep, rough drop in the first mile and a similar one uphill in the last mile! Trust me - ask Simon - you will NOT run the last hill!
I'm also considering doing a shortened version of it (without the two climbs in the first and last miles) on Saturday 16 Feb (the day before the Humdinger) for any of us who are marshaling the race but need to get a decent but interesting run in that weekend, like me, who's got the Malta Half the following weekend.
