SUNDAY 8TH FEBRUARY RUNS

Due to the adverse weather conditions, and with safety in mind, there will be NO ORGANISED RUNS THIS SUNDAY MORNING.

Rich will turn up to inform anybody who doesn't see this post.

Lets hope that things improve by Wednesday.

Mike

Re: SUNDAY 8TH FEBRUARY RUNS

What a bunch of pansies, Rich and I did 18, it was a beautiful day! No, actually it was a good call, the ice was still hanging round and we mostly had to run on the road so it wouldn't have been safe with a big group. Only about three new runners turned up anyway and I think that they secretly congratulated themselves that no running was happening. If anyone has the idea to try running on a treadmill if the weather conditions are not good, then don't bother with the local gyms, as it's company policy not to let anyone use the gym unless they have been 'instructed'. Rich and I thought that it might be a good idea, but no.

Re: SUNDAY 8TH FEBRUARY RUNS

Thanks for the vote of confidence guys!

Four of us met up in Hamilton Park and ran for over an hour. You ought to try running on 3/4 inches of snow for that length of time - it's incredibly hard work, but good fun.

Perhaps a little unfair generalisation about local gyms, Alex. All gyms (local or otherwise) are subject to very strict Health & Safety regulations and, quite rightly, won't allow anyone to use equipment without ensuring that they have had adequate instruction from a qualified instructor!

Having said that, I seem to pick up injuries when using treadmills and I guess that's because my legs simply aren't used to a totally different running surface. Not only that, I thoroughly enjoy the fresh air - far healthier than a sweaty gym!

Re: SUNDAY 8TH FEBRUARY RUNS

Martin and myself went out for a 7 mile run (well Martin ran, I jogged/walked!!!). certainly was a tad icy and wet around Langford Lane area, but was nice to get a bit of fresh air. If anyone is interested, weather permitting a few of us are going for a run tomorrow evening from Belvedere Rd-will confirm details tomorrow. El

It was a lovely run and I'm glad we made the effort. The rain, although cold, melted the ice. emoticon

Did do "the old classic" on Sunday - ok if I ran on the road but pavements a no goer.

Look forward to Wednesday when hopefully things have thawed by then. Otherwise it's Wii sports for me!!
