WEDNESDAY 13TH DECEMBER 2006
As some of you are aware we seem to have become so popular that there is some confusion as to which group some people should be in. Some runners are moving to new groups because they feel that they are too fast or slow for their 'allotted' group'. In addition, new (and often inexperienced) people are joining all the time. This has been causing difficulties.
Simon and I have had a chat and feel that a regular time trial (say every 6/8 weeks) would be the best way forward. It will help us to allocate people to a specific group for a relatively short period of time and hopefully provide some continuity on Wednesday evening runs.
The next trial will be on Wednesday week (13th December). We plan to keep the same route as last time, starting on the top level of the Council's staff car park in Belvedere Road and finishing by the telephone box in French Weir Park. This is precisely 4 miles. The results of the run will be posted the following day and you will be allocated to a specific group. Unless there are extenuating circumstances, in which case please talk to Simon or me, would you please stay in these groups until the next trial.
It would be helpful if everybody could make an extra effort to attend these trials so we can all get back to enjoying a social, stress-free run for all.
There will be no formal runs that evening.
I should add that this applies to regular runners only and does not include the half marathon training group - they will continue to follow the program set for them.
