Re: REsults
I took part in the Sodbury Slog today (got round the 9.5 miles in 2.01.54). An amazing event, really well organised, friendly marshalls and LOTS and LOTS of mud so just my cup of tea!!
Didn't see any other RFRC'ers there though...

Re: REsults
Well done Wendy. You should have taken Phil with you - you could have splashed each other with mud!
The club run chose a quieter time and went for a gentle 7 miler up over Norton Hill Fort and around the back of Staplegrove.

Re: REsults
My 'official' time for the Sodbury Slog is up at 2.00.24 (924th out of 1016 runners). It really was a great event- I'm sure lots of you (well Phil anyway) would have enjoyed it!!!

Re: REsults
Well done Tanya. A good time given how hilly the course is supposed to be. Perhaps we as a Club should give that one a go next year. It sounds like a really nice run.

Re: REsults
Nine of us travelled into Devon again, this time to the Templer Ten.
Having left Taunton in a light drizzle the weather conditions worsened the further south we went. When we got there an hour before the race start the conditions were foul (heavy driving rain). However, by the time the race started the rain had stopped and wind dropped.
The course, a mix of road, (muddy) grass, trail and farm tracks, was a little soggy but a great intro to Val and Caroline, who both had their first taste of multi-terrain racing. Well done to you both as well as Rich, who was second MV35 (hey, welcome to the old man's ranks, mate!).
During the race it appears that Stu had persuaded the race commentator to plug the Hestercombe Humdinger and, boy, did he do a good job - every other sentence mentioned our race! Great work, Stu.
Overall, a really good day out for RFRC - if nothing else it's fair to say that, if they didn't before, the Devon running community know about us after yesterday.
The results of our runners were:-
7 Rich Palmer 58:41
8 Nick Cutler 59:11
24 Keith Thompson 63:09
28 Alex Abrams 64:12
29 Andrew Ellins 64:15
47 Martin Kemp 67:15
89 Mike Nicholls 72:46
125 Val Lambert 79:39
153 Caroling Louttit 84:36

Re: REsults
Mike, I'd love to have won the MV35 but had to settle for second prize. Maybe next year!

Re: REsults
Four of us went on our travels again today, this time to the Bicton Blister. When they said multi-terrain they meant it! This race has just about every surface which you could wish for, including a huge amount of sand and loads of mud and water. Phil and Wendy, in particular, would have loved it!
The sun shone and the scenery was equally as good as the Drogo three weeks ago - 10.25 miles of very pleasant but tough countryside. Not as steep hills as in some other races but you were constantly going up or down hill.
Oh, and Keith, I can recommend the Otter Ale in the Pig & Whistle at Westpoint!
The results of our runners were:-
83 Simon Lewis 1:21:13
150 Steve Murphy 1:28:55
152 Scott Weetch 1:29:08
190 Mike Nicholls 1:33:50
