Results 2008
Last year was great, but the thread has 20+ pages.
New Year - New Page!
Same principle applies - add you results plus short description and hopefully it'll get into the Gazette (of course after i've padded it out a little)
Please note that i may use a little artistic licence and take the p***

Re: Results 2008
Not quite the New Year but as this thread has been started...
In ideal running conditions this morning, 10 RFRC members ran the Stoke Stampede. Results as follows:-
9 Nick Cutler 37:01 (PB)
59 Scott Weetch 44:07 (PB)
77 Carol Alba 46:41 (PB)
95 Haidee Pine 48:11
110 Lisa Farthing 50:01
119 Caroline Loutitt 52:20
197 Kenneth Rabjohns 78:28
198 Nicky Cooksley 78:28

There may well be other PB's amongst those which I've not indicated because I wasn't aware of them.
Well run all.

Re: Results 2008
In what can only be described as the some of the best conditions for years with virtually no wind the Last Chance 10K was held earlier today at Exeter Basins. OK, there were a few puddles and a tiny amount of mud but the lack of wind on a notoriously windy course was a real bonus!
The following members of RFRC all performed well:-
123 Darren Webb 43:58
125 Scott Weetch 44:10
133 Mike Nicholls 44:47
348 El Palfreman 55:29
502 finished
Unfortunately, the organisers haven't included clubs in the results list so I may have missed somebody who I also didn't bump into earlier.

Re: Results 2008
Once again, RFRC turned up in numbers at the Oh My Obelisk at Dawlish earlier today. Conditions were the windiest, wettest and mudiest they have ever been for this race, which is in it's third year. The bonus was that the promised rain held off until we were heading back to Taunton.
10.8 miles of lovely countryside, well organised and largely enthusiastically marshaled.
Our Mens team captain, Rich, led us home in a great 5th place, a result made even better by his running it in road shoes!
An excellent debut in multi-terrain racing by Sallie Durman too - that certainly wasn't the easiest one to start with!
Full results as follows:-
5 Rich Palmer 1:14:16
25 Alex Abrams 1:21:30
60 Simon Lewis 1:26:46
75 Martin Kemp 1:29:12
133 Scott Weetch 1:36:36
135 Mike Nicholls 1:37:04
237 Sallie Durman 1:52:20
258 Lynn Cunningham 1:57:42
264 Elena Minelli 1:58:42
300 Phil Wilson 2:13:16
301 Val Perigo 2:13:16

Re: Results 2008
Don’t know if this is the best place to post this, but this was one of the hardest races that I've run. The sticky mud made each step seem that much harder than it would have been on road, and at the top of the climb, near the obelisk, your foot would sink up to the ankle. Immediately after the assent there was a steep drop of a half mile or so on road, then more muddy trail, and a few footpaths across fields, and back to the leisure centre. The field was pretty strong with some very fast runners turning out so Rich's placing is an excellent achievement, well done mate! I recommend this one for next year if anyone is looking for a challenge.
