Re: Results 2008

Four of us ran the Malta Half Marathon yesterday. The weather had been a mixture of cloud, sun and occasional showers in the days leading up until the race but the sun shone bright yesterday, with temperatures rising to the mid 20's during the race! A well organised race with superb marshaling and traffic control, given that the whole population of Malta seem to go out in their cars on Sundays. Results were as follows:-

214 Mike Nicholls 1:43:11
532 Malcolm Hutchings 2:07:28
583 John Scanlon 2:11:56
654 Malcolm Boon 2:20:46

728 finished.

Considering the heat those are great times. I remember running the Sturminster half two years ago when it was boiling and it was a long morning!!

Re: Results 2008

i ran the combe st nicholas 10k on sunday and came 1st in my category and 1st lady overall! in a time of 51.03. it was quite a challenging 10k,lots of hills. and not a huge turnout, about 60 in all(i guess thats how i managed to win!), but a really good race, i recommend this one for next year, well organised, lots of prizes 1st 2nd and 3rd for each age category. all the proceeds from the race go to combe st nicholas primary schools new building.

posticon Reading half-marathon

Hi,

Just got back from Reading, the place not the activity! Didn't spot the two other RFRC runners, but they were probably well ahead! I see Steve was 30 minutes ahead! How!?...so not fair!

Well, I just missed my PB, and came in at 1:54:48, and running into the Madejski Stadium was great! I even gave what felt to me like a sprint. Mike and Scott would have been proud!

The race was well organised, with 17,000 runners and lots of drinks, jelly babies, loos and support! and whilst I'd like to think the conditions stopped me achieving my PB, the fact that Liz Yelling ran a female course record, an amazing 1:09:34! kinda ruins that for me.

Would do again, and recommend staying in the Madejski hotel, if you can get the discounted rate. Was brill to be on site before and after race when so far from home.

HPSauce7 (aka Helen)

PS To see a photo of me and the medal, and learn about why I choose Reading check out:

Results from yesterdays Grizzly and Cub runs are in. Here are the RFRC members that I could find (sorry if I've missed you out!)

Grizzly:
Alex Abrams 3.00.40
Keith Thompson 3.17.05
Mike Nicholls 4.14.22
Scott Weech 4.14.23
Steve Murphy 4.14.23
Simon Lewis 4.14.23
Wendy Jones 5.11.13

Cub Run:
Phil Wilson 2.13.18
Val Perigo 2.13.19

Some great results for such a hard event!

Despite being almost 20 minutes faster than last year I had really hard time, so if anyone hears me even considering doing the Grizzly EVER AGAIN, for God's sake KICK ME!!! Didn't I say that last year!?....
