Re: RESULTS 2009
Now that the results are updated - and they confess that 'human error' led to the run being about one third of a mile over distance, for which they are consulting Devon Athletics - I can reveal that the results are:
779th - Elle 2.06.37
486th - Martin 1.50.54
247 - Me - 1.40.37
All of the times should be 2 or 3 minutes better because of the mistake. Also, for anyone who enters this next year, it is billed as 'largely flat'. The first half is certainly not, being very up and down. The second half, in fairness, is flat as a pancake. Conditions yesterday were just about perfect. Very little wind, warm but not hot. I think the weather was ok too.

Re: RESULTS 2009
Ran the Combe St Nicholas 10k at the weekend. A lovely little race which is now in its third year and just starting to take off. A lot more runners this year. It's pretty hilly, especially in the second half so don't expect a pb but the atmosphere is friendly, it is a very scenic course and well worth doing.
Anyway, I ran it in 38.48 and came 6th (missed out on a prize by one position).

I ran Milton Keynes Half marathon at the weekend (8th March) still slow complared with some of you guys, but was very pleased blasting 12 mins off my pb. Went with the plan to get under 2 hours for the first time, and came home in 1.55.28

Re: RESULTS 2009
Below you will find the results of this year's Grizzly. They don't begin to tell the tale...
On a cold and windy day, with the weather changing as often as on obsessive compulsive changes his socks, 13 RFRC members travelled to Seaton to overcome the Grizzly and its sibling the Cub. The Grizzly is 20 miles of notoriously hard off road run encompassing mud, hills, a bog, streams, four beaches, the infamous stairway to heaven and much more besides. There are bands playing, lone pipers on the hills and a party atmosphere everywhere except inside your head, where the pain is. Starting in Seaton and wending its way along the coast to Beer and Branscombe along the coastal path, this is not for the faint hearted. The cub is marginally less tortuous, being about half the distance but encompassing similar challenges.
RFRC members did exceptionally well in both. Andy Ellins was first member home in the extraordinary time of 2h50 to finish 47th out of over 1400. Simon Gould and Keith Thompson had excellent finishes in under 3 and a half hours and everyone else performed exceptionally well in tough conditions, including Lynne Cunningham who dipped under the 5 hour mark.
The Cub runners included those that had entered the Grizzly before and had thought better of it, or just didn't want to get their spotty green off roaders too dirty. Mike Nicholls finished first in his age class (over 70s), to finish in 33rd place overall, an excellent achievement.
Thanks must also go to those club members who came down to give their vociferous support (Claire, Phil, Alex to name a few, I know there are others, sorry not to name individually). Sometimes it is hard to raise a proper smile when in pain. Not on Sunday. They were all brilliant. It helped us all so much.
GRIZZLY
47 Andrew Ellins 2:50:39
231 Simon Gould 3:17:40
261 Keith Thompson 3:21:07
582 Daniel Talbot 3:45:55
758 Scott Weetch 3:57:41
759 Simon Lewis 3:57:45
1029 Stephen Phillips 4:20:07
1306 Lynn Cunningham 4:57:20
1446 finished
CUB
33 Mike Nicholls 1:27:04
(1st in age category)
132 Alastair Collins 1:49:02
177 Val Perigo 1:58:13
178 Wendy Jones 1:58:14
261 Michelle Garcia 2:34:06
276 finished.

Re: RESULTS 2009
Thanks for the mention Scotty. I'll be around to pick my pension up from you in the morning!
I'd just like to thank all of the folks who came down to support us on Sunday. You were fantastic guys and you're a true reflection of what our Club is all about!

Re: RESULTS 2009
The Cub was great, brilliant, fantastic. I had a lovely time. My spotty green off-roaders enjoyed themselves too. ;-)

Re: RESULTS 2009
hello,
Just got the results of the Bath Half Marathon I done yesterday, my chip time was 2 hours, 11 mins and 5 long seconds. This is not a PB, it was the most disorganised race i have been in, overcrowed, could only be descibed as running through christmas shoppers on christmas eve, (Pre-resession)! would not do this race again.

Re: RESULTS 2009
Yep have to agree Paula that yet again it was badly organised. Delayed start (again) on a hot day meant not starting until 11.30am. Only one size t shirt (large) for £32 which only fits 10% of the runners. Pathetic medal, one hour queues for the park and ride etc etc. I could go on. What is worse is that they have now ****ed up the results. Hopefuly they will rectify this. My chip time is the same as the gun time!! I ran 1.21.40 (a pb) on my Garmin and I am down as 1.21.00 (wishful thinking but not correct). Luckily I was very near the front at the start so missed the crowds but apparently the zones were totally ****ed up with comedy runners in front of people who had run sub 1.30. If they sort out this mess I will post the correct results.
On a brighter note, Mark Fisher ran the Street 5k last weds and won it in a time of 16.56. He won a bottle of wine for his efforts so well done Mark.

Re: RESULTS 2009
Butleigh 7M Multi-terrain
Sally Tovey and myself (John Ward) ran race 3 of the Somerset Series yesterday on a gloriously warm spring day.
Both of us found the course difficult with about 1/3 on road and 2/3 off road through fields, across styles - quite muddy in places.
It was a friendly, local race and some great cakes and cream teas afterwards.
Anyway, the results were:-
36 Tovey Sally Running Forever 35+ LADY VET 58:29:00
37 Ward John Running Forever RC SENIOR MALE 58:50:00
There were 67 finishers.
John
