Fear in Fun Park
Below is a post I made about fear in Fun Park in The Saint thread, on the Commander Bond website. I thought there's an odd chance that somebody might be interested in reading it on here:
Fear in Fun Park always gets a lot of stick due to the script bloopers, but it isn’t bad viewing on some levels. By this series standards, it has quite a few positives
• It is well filmed: Sydney is a stunning location used to full effect; it has air of glamour and sophistication about it.
• The acting is good and the guest stars are attractive; adding to the glamour.
• The chase scene is worthy of a motion picture, and the most dramatic action sequence the Saint has ever appeared in before or since; nothing in the multi-million dollar Val Kilmer movie was as spectacular as this.
• Although this movie is remembered for it’s chase, actually, most of the episode is reminiscent of opulent soap operas of the time, such as Dynasty and Dallas, making good 1980's nostalgia.
• The plot concerning the smuggling of oriental girls into Australia, and using them as prostitutes, makes an interesting synopsis, which is still relevant to similar stories in the news today.
Sadly, the above was tarnished by a script that attempted to do too much and depended on a collection of incredible coincidences and oversights.

Re: Fear in Fun Park
It was indeed one of the better attempts of making a decent Saint movie with Dutton. I must admit honestly that I enjoyed every one of the 6, simply because I had seen only half of them and then couldn´t recall the other ones in a decent way. My mum had taped them for me knowing I was a Saint fan while I was a way for a year in the UK.
All 6 were more faithfull to Charteris´ Saint than the last movie effort with Kilmer. However even that movie has its brilliant moments that would have impressed LC. Most of all the soundtrack was mesmerizing, I love the lovetheme and some of the other moments of that soundtrack.

That's quite an admission. I'm only admitting to enjoying five

I'm not sure what Leslie Charteris would have said -- He wasn't exactly diplomatic about the one's he did see -- But if you mean there are some Saintly moments in the 1997 film, then I concur. The Oxford University scene with Teal is the most obvious example pointed out by fans.
I don't own the soundtrack, but it does come across well in the film. I also liked the Duran Duran song at the end. There were some nice sequences combining picturesque footage with the score.

Re: Fear in Fun Park
I'd much rather have watched another series, or two, of Simon Dutton wearing the halo than having to suffer the 1997 movie.
