Fear in the Park

I thought this was one of the better episodes, of the four that I saw, way back in 89/90. If memory serves me correctly, there’s a link to Simon’s past - in a previous TV incarnation.

As the Saint chases the baddie through the amusement park, he meets a woman standing by a red Volvo P1800. Simon stops, looks at the car, then looks at the girl and says something like; ‘I like your car – I used to have one like it!’ Then he continues his pursuit!

Can anyone remember the exact line? It was a nice touch though!

Well lets hope that Umbrella does the Dutton movie too next year. So we can all have a look.

There's a post on the 'Commander Bond' site forum from Ian ****erson:

'The Dutton series may be released on DVD next year.'

So keep your fingers crossed!

Yes that would be lovely wouldn't it. If they just throw in as an extra the Saint in Manhattan episode, just for people who would like to have it all.

Hmm. Travesty to the good name of the Saint and Leslie Charteris is probably how I would describe this misfit series of films.

Certainly won't be adding these to the DVD collection if and when they make an appearance.

FEAR IN FUN PARK certainly had one or two Saintly moments (I liked him jumping from the monorail to the passing tall ship).

But there is another connection to an earlier incarnation...

Ed Devereaux, who played the millionaire friend of Templar, also appeared in The Loving Brothers episode of Roger Moore's series (an episode set in Australia). Devereaux passed away in December 2003.

Well, what tricks the mind can play on you! My only defence is that it had been fifteen years since I had watched any of the Dutton Saint films.

To put the record straight, the Volvo 1800 featured in Fear in Fun Park is Grey, and appears in the film before the main chase scene. It is owned by a woman whom Simon first meets at Sydney Airport.
