Any Word On Mystery Wheel Series Release?

I've been checking Umbrella Entertainment's website, but they've been under construction forever, does anyone know of a possible release date? I've never seen the Simon version and its killing me! Even tapes from someone else will satisfy me, uncut with the commercials I don't care.

Umbrella don't have a license for the Mystery Wheel series--Network in the UK do, and it's planned once we get Moore and Ogilvy releases out of the way.

I'd definitely like to see the Simon Dutton TV movies released. Only saw a handful of them (probably 2, IIRC), and even those I only saw the once. Thought Dutton's take on the role was quite different, a little akin to Dalton's Bond. (And since Dalton is my favourite Bond, you might see why I'm looking forward to the Dutton's on DVD.)

By the way, what's the story behind calling it the "Mystery Wheel Series"? Were they the production company or something?

Mystery Wheel was the title under which Taffner was trying to sell the Dutton Saints plus a series of **** Francis adaptations starring Ian McShane to Tv stations around the world.

As it was only the US stations opted for that title and both sets of movies.

Nice to see you hear Alan!

Hi Alan,

Welcome to the party, it's good to have you aboard.

All I can say is great minds think alike – I posted this last year.

Simon Dutton has very similar qualities to Tim Dalton; they both have a kind of mean and moody look, which suits the characters of both Templar and Bond.

Well, I can't really comment from the point of view of whether a "Daltonesque" Simon Templar is right for the part, as I've never read a Saint novel. I do however recall thinking that it was at least a different and interesting interpretation from Simon Dutton, compared to the lighter portrayals from Moore and Ogilvy.

You can turn the profanity filter off in your Control Panel. It was one of the first things I did after joining...
