Your Favourite Three Short Stories?

Where to start? There are so many great stories, my absolute favourite is:

1. The Miracle Tea Party

Followed by:

2. Luella
3. The Bunco Artist

Choose only three short stories, that's very difficult. Can't I choose say five instead Mr. Teal? No? Oh well. Although I insist on four reserves!

1) Arrow of God (from The Saint on the Spanish Main).

2)The Revolution Racket, (starring naturally my good self, Captain Carlos Xavier, playing a minor, but important role). (Senor Saint)

3)The Story of a Dead Man. (Alias the Saint)

Reserves
The Sleepless Knight. (The Saint Intervenes)

The Death Penalty. (The Saint and Mr. Teal)

The Man who liked Ants. (The Happy Highwayman)

The Lovelorn Sheikh. (The Saint around the World).

Carlos Xavier (Captain)

I haven't read much yet, though I have all the books... I'll return when I'm better informed, but "The Wonderful War" sticks in my memory (I also read it twice in quick succession - very enjoyable), a good candidate for the earliest Saint adventure in chronological order!

I also enjoyed "The Golden Journey". Another unusual one. Finally, though I only know this one from television, "The Gentle Ladies" was very jolly. Simon on good charming form.

I’ve just finished reading ‘The Saint on the Spanish Main.’ I think all but one of the stories were adapted for TV – although the book includes the superb ‘The Questing Tycoon,’ my favourite is ‘The Old Treasure Story.’

I really liked the television version of this story, which I watched for the first time on the Umbrella DVDs. Having now read the original, I was amazed that it was a totally different story, Charteris allows the Saint to have some fun, and there is a really great twist at the end.

I've just read "The Melancholy Journey of Mr Teal" and it's probably my favourite short story so far. Superb! Especially the showdown (long awaited) between the two, and the Saint's (rare) pangs of conscience. Plus some proper development of the Saint and Pat's relationship.
