The Best of the Saint Volume 1
'I am the Saint - you may have heard of me. Just a twentieth-century privateer. In my small way I try to put right a few of the things that are wrong with this ****-eyed world' Simon Templar, aka the Saint.
On the side of the law and yet outside it, the Saint, exciting, debonair and very slightly disreputable, lives for adventure. Here he is at his ebullient best, spreading terror among London's drug dealers, rescuing a lady crook from distress and much, much more.
Introduced by Ken Follett, this sparkling collection of the very best of the earlier stories includes The Lawless Lady and The Elusive Ellshaw.
Paperback: 512 pages
Publisher: Hodder Paperbacks (27 Nov 2008)
Language English

The Best of the Saint Volume 2
'Simon had about him that indefinable atmosphere of romance and adventurousness which is given to some favoured men in every age, and it attracted adventure as inevitably as a magnet attracts iron filings' Leslie Charteris
Exciting, debonair and ever so slightly disreputable, the Saint is ready to mete out justice in a way that only he can. These adventures take him all over the world, where, with that ever present twinkle in his eye, he flushes out swindlers, murderers and jewel thieves. He helps to solve an unusual murder in Paris, confounds a cunning crook in Bermuda and in Rome he is grabbed by the long arm of the Mafia at their peril!
Sir Roger Moore, star of the Sixties TV series, introduces this collection of post-war stories, which include The Patient Playboy and The Sporting Chance.

Re: The Best of the Saint
Now I happily admit to being biased about these books but I seem to recall the RRP for each title is £7.99. 512 pages for £7.99 seems like a bargain to me...

I'll be buying them but a shame that there is no hardback release.

Re: The Best of the Saint
Oh scratch that, I see Waterstones have them here (http://www.waterstones.com/waterstonesweb/displayProductDetails.do?sku=6216939) for £5.99. A positive bargain!!
Hardback releases are only given nowadays to high profile fiction and mass market reprints such as this simply aren't worth doing in hard cover.
And the only thing that will dictate whether or not we do more of these is sales, so we need a few thousand people to buy each title...

Re: The Best of the Saint
Hoppy has confirmed that the publication date for the two anthologies has been put back to December 11th due to unforeseen problems with the proofs.

Re: The Best of the Saint
I first ordered them with Amazon.com but with the postage they were rather expensive. Finaly my favorite site Play.com does offer them. Which might be of interest for the fans of the EU countries.
€9,99 for each copy which includes postage (or 6,99 for the UK)

Re: The Best of the Saint
One of the two best ofs is since the 4th of December on its way to my mailbox and the other one is "packing".
However I won't see them before Christmas, which is a rightious time for Saints.

Re: The Best of the Saint
Just bumping this as a reminder, for tomorrow is the official publication of the first Charterisian Saint books to be published in the UK for just over 15 years...
