How did you acquire your Saintly Library?

Mine has come from lovely old-fashioned second hand book shops, many now sadly defunct.
Including the happy day I strolled into one when they were just unpacking boxes from a house clearance and managed to bag 15 H&S hardbacks for £10. Including 'London'.
Just 4 classic titles left to find in hardback now.

Indeed many 2nd hand bookstore got visited by me in strong anticipation, more often not succesfull but always some book richer. My first collection of Dutch paperbacks has been the foundation.

Then came Ebay and many a first edition fell through my mailbox.

These days I am left with only a few titles left that are frankly a bit to rich for my budget.

I still enjoy a secondhand bookshop, especially ones I've not yet visited and they are yet full of treasure. emoticon

Hi Patricia,

Welcome to the board.

It took me about five years to build a complete collection of paperbacks, passing many happy hours in second-hand bookshops, sometimes I was lucky enough to find three or four books in one go, but as I added to my collection it became harder and harder to find the last few that always seemed to elude me.

In the end I gave in and used the power of the internet, with the help of Book Finder & ABE to track down ‘The Saint in Pursuit’ and “The Saint and the People Importers.”

I also have a complete set of the original French stories, having again used the online book search sites to track them down.

The internet is a great tool, but it does take all the fun out of the hunt.

Ah, but the moment the book drops in the mailbox and you get to unwrap that long wanted treasure is still bloody magic.
