Saintly Roger to return ?
Four decades after he last played his famous alter ego The Saint, Sir Roger Moore has revealed he will star in a re-remake of the show.
The former James Bond star, who played gentleman thief Simon Templar in the hit television series from 1962 to 1969, is set to make a “guest appearance” in a new TV film version, which will see Rome star James Purefoy taking on the lead role. Sir Roger, 81, is remaining tight-lipped about the role he will play, however he adds: “It’s all going to start in September in Toronto. I shall have a small part.”
Back in May last year he described rumours of an appearance as “unfounded”.

Re: Saintly Roger to return ?
James Purefoy returning as the Saint.
Now that would be good news. But somehow I doubt it.

Re: Saintly Roger to return ?
I nicked or borrowed this from the Commander Bond network where our friend Ian ****erson tells more about the Saintly future as he seems to do on this forum.
Bondshell says:
According to Sir Roger's official site, The Saint is due to start filming in Toronto in September and Sir Rog will have a small role in it. Of course Sir Rog has been overly optimistic before concerning the start date. What do you think Ian? Is this a possibility?
While scouring the net for Saintly news, I also stumbled upon this interesting story about a Saint TV show from aintitcool from nine years ago.
http://www.aintitcool.com/talkback_display/5274?q=node/5274
One wonders how true the story is and if this project has any connection to the current one, apart from a possible Canadian shoot. What's particularly interesting about it is the list of candidates said to be in the frame to play Templar - James Purefoy, Jeremy Northam, Greg Wise, Ioan Gruffudd, and Colin Wells.
We know about Purefoy's connection to the current project and perhaps the others were revisited. Ioan Gruffudd is under 40 so we know he isn't our Saint, and Colin Wells is out because he isn't a well known actor. Jeremy Northam has got to be the red hot favourite, but Greg Wise is a possible. I've got him down as second favourite right now.

Re: Saintly Roger to return ?
Mr ****erson actually states that there is an actor lined up and he seems to be in favor of the new script. All that is needed is his signature and we'll know a new Saint. (even if I am carefull this time after the Purefoy incident)
And the good news is: It is not John Barrowman from the BBC (the Barrowman Broadcasting Cooperation ).
On that note I like to add that the third episode of the Philanthropist could easily have been a Saintly adventure.

Except I found the third episode so boring that I fell asleep during it...

Re: Saintly Roger to return ?
Thanks for starting this thread Lady T.
It would be nice to get more response to this item on our quiet little backwater.
Let's hope that as news spreads and production gets underway that more people will feel the need to exprerss their thoughts on the subject.
