Re: Dougray Scott is the one
Penry-Jones wouldnt have cut it for me. I think he's not a bad actor but just lacking a little sparkle. Ioan Gruffudd would have been an excellent choice though

Re: Dougray Scott is the one
For what it’s worth I probably would have gone with Rupert Penry-Jones too. I enjoyed his performances in Spooks and I thought, then, he’d make a good Saint; mainly because he reminded me of Ian Ogilvy.
All the same, I am looking forward to seeing Dougray Scott’s turn as the Saint. He fits the physical description of the Saint well and, from a personal point of view, looks similar to how I used to imagine Simon Templar. The first new Saint book I ever owned was Enter the Saint, a 1983 edition, with an introduction by Ion Trewin. On the front cover is a picture of the Saint stepping across from his roadster to another vehicle, at high speed. The picture of Templar isn’t particularly clear, but as a boy, it’s how imagined the Saint to look – and Dougray Scott could be that man…

Re: Dougray Scott is the one
The last thing I watched Scott in was ‘Enigma’, but I think he will carry the part of Templar well – let’s hope that he gets the chance to wear the halo for a series or two.

Re: Dougray Scott is the one
I'm a bit disappointed - the same way I was when I heard that Daniel Craig was to be James Bond. Both are good actors but, physically, they're not right for the characters they're playing.
Mind you, at least Dougray is a Brit. I did wonder if they'd cast an American. I have to say his English accent wasn't that great in Desperate Housewives, and I wonder if he'll be called on to employ it again.
My first choice? James Purefoy. I know... that one's been and gone. But he'd have been just right.

Re: Dougray Scott is the one
When is he officially getting announced or is it the next actor to walk or to be unavailable due to other commitments?
I thought they were supposed to start filming in September?
