Saint partwork

A number of people have been asking me about this:

http://www.the-saint-dvds.com

Just to answer several e-mails in one go, I have nothing to do with it. I know £7.99 per issue is not an uncommon price for a DVD based partwork but nevertheless that doesn't sit comfortably with me.

Oh and whilst their fulfillment place is just down the road from me it seems there are no stockists in my area yet.

Out of interest I indulged in the first issue.

The DVD is taken from the Carlton release of a few years ago. And the magazine--all 12 pages of it--is lavishly illustrated with standard library shots combined with stills from the relevant episodes.

And the text is, well it contains lines like "It turned out that Roger Moore's portrayal was anything but disappointing and, with the show's growing success, Charteris and Moore became amicable".

"Became amicable"?

Oh and it credits and "recommends" three books which will be familiar to most folks here, one of them is "The Saint" by Burl Barer. That'll be his novelisation of the Kilmer film then...

Hmm - a 'must-purchase' then.
