Noyce Commentary

Has any one listened to Phil Noyce's commentary on the DVD of the Kilmer film?

If so, what did you think?

I've just listened to it and I can't help but feel disappointed. It's an interesting piece on the making of a film--any film, it seems almost coincidental that he's talking about the Saint.

It made me think of the Umbrella commentary for "The Saint and the Brave Goose" where they don't even mention when Leslie walks through the background. On this Noyce doesn't even mention the voice over by Roger.

Perhaps it's me. Perhaps I just expected something different.

Re: Noyce Commentary

Like Hoppy, I think Noyce’s commentary is quite detailed as to how the thing was put together and shot.

The works of Leslie Charteris, and Saints Roger Moore, George Sanders and Vincent Price get a mention early on, but everything that has gone before is soon forgotten as he enthuses about telling the untold story of how Simon Templar became the Saint, and how Val Kilmer created his own take on the character.

Re: Noyce Commentary

I thought the Noyce commentary was good. It was nice some of the effect technicians also were included.

I was very hopeful near the end of the film when Noyce discusses the original ending of The Saint. He mentions that both endings screened very well and he was unsure of which ending to use.

He also states he would like Paramount to release the other version of the film on DVD at some point in the future and let viewers decide for themselves.

I would really like to see this happen.
