Coming to a DVD player near you?

For those that are interested, Ian ****erson has dropped some hints about ‘The Saint in Manhattan’ seeing the light of day on DVD.

I’ve no other details, but I’m guessing it will be part of the NETWORK DVD releases, so expect it sometime next year.

That would be lovely, not because it's greatness but it is nice to have everything complete. emoticon

Will this be on R2 as well?

This is one I've never seen but as I feel that the further on in history we go, and thereby the further on from the b/w's of the 30s, the further too do we get away from anything remotely concerning the Saint's character.

Indeed, as far as characterisations go, my all time top list exactly mirrors that of their chronological order. So we start with RKO, through to Moore and onwards to Noyce's horrendous dipiction.

So, I'm not holding out any hope for this either and will probably only buy it out of curiousity. To wit, I will not buy the Dutton efforts and nor will I buy Noyce's. I would probably stop at the Ogilvy collection.

However, if anyone has seen it and rates it, then I will only be too happy to repent.

I did have the doubtfull pleasure of seeing this episode on video.

My mum did me the pleasure of taping it for me. She'd enjoyed the Dutton series, watching them with me (she did the taping since I didn't have any tv and so in that time). So she was looking forward to this "new" Saint who she actually thought to be goodlooking.

Now my mother is not that much of a critic, but she thought this episode to be a very bad omen for a new series. (I wrote it down nicely) She found this episode a piece of **** and not worthy of the saint.

I was just very dissapointed. But would welcome the chance to add it to my collection. And the Dutton series is very welcome indeed.

But I must admit: a saint with a moustache, heck no. emoticon

I’ve never seen this episode in The Saint’s adventures, but out of interest, can anybody tell me if Mr. Clark received a halo like Roger or Ian, at the beginning - after someone has recognised him and said: ‘… but then you are the infamous Simon Templar?’ Or something a kin to that?

Claude,

Haven't figured out how to post images here so a couple of screen grabs are on their way via e-mail.

Hi Hoppy,

Many thanks for the 2 pictures. I now understand why people have called him a ‘Magnum’ clone!

In order to post pictures you need to sign-up to an image hosting site and then hot link them into your post in runboard, using the insert image button... Phew!

I believe that Network are still planning to release this along with the Simon Dutton series, but there is no set date yet - the people working on it are all busy on other projects.

The good news though is that Network is releasing a special DVD at the beginning of 2008 featuring the best bits of ‘The Saint Steps In… To Television’ and ‘The Saint Steps in… To Colour’ which includes additional new material and interviews with Kate O’Mara, Bert Kwouk.

Outstanding. Is this new material outside of what the Network box sets contain in them?

Any news on the release date or preorder online at Network?

Thanks!

Merry Christmas!
