Helen Melville Russell-Cooke,
As everyone knows I am doing a lot of research on titanic's crew members and families and such. well i decided to start a new thread here about captain smith's daughter and him as well.
well i have researched him for a long while now and here is what i have come up with so far...any information i would gladly add and give credit to whomever helps.
during my research i have come across some interesting facts or so called that anyway.
ok .
helen melville smith was born on 2.4.1898
she died on 18.8.1973.
during her life she had married a guy named sidney russell cooke. by him she had 2 children. twins... a boy and a girl.
simon and priscilla.
simon went on to become a pilot in the raf. and was killed near the end of the ww2. his sister[priscilla] went on to marry a guy named john c. phipps. she died a few years later from polio. she nor simon never had any children.
helen or mel as her friends always called her said once that she was carefull about getting to intimate with people because of all the tragedy .
by that i mean ..
she got married to mr russell-cooke in 1922 he died in 1930 because of a shooting accident.
a year later she was with her mother elenor when she was ran over by a car.
then she looses her son in 1944
then priscilla dies a few yrs later. so it was easy for me too see why she was apprehensive,
well anyway . i will post a nother story soon. but will have to wait to see which one it will be.

Re: Helen Melville Russell-Cooke,
Interesting...poor Mel didn't have a very happy life...well maybe she did, since I don't know the whole story, but there was certainly a lot of sadness as well.
I always laugh when I remember reading that she was very fond of fast cars...wonder what her da would have made of that? (knowing Capt. Smith, he probably would have had a fit to think of his little girl driving fast cars! Kind of like Lightoller's grandson commanding a u-boat, erm, submarine! lol).
